Maynard Evans (Orlando, FL) 66 Corbin 62

Featured Replies

Evans was very athletic but Corbin's late rally to cut a 17 point second half deficit to 2 wasn't quite enough for the Hounds. Despite 3 starters sitting about 90% of the second half, The Hounds played a very good game. The return of Josh Crawford was a pleasant surprise and he looked very good in limited action. Rebounds do not get away from him. His free throw shot looks leaps and bounds better than in the past. With that being a weakness of Corbin, it's good to see him back.

Hound reserves seemed to understand sharing the basketball and making passes better than the starters. Maybe this will carryover to the rest of the team.

I agree, it seemed like too much dribbling into nothing in the first half which led to no open looks. Rogers had a big game off of the bench before going down to an injury. Those 3 threes came up big in the rally. The kid from E-Town gave some solid minutes of tough basketball. Madon playing as much as he did surprised me but he played solid and didn't make any mistakes. Cashen was his usual self. The team seems to play so much better with him in the game. His agressive play seems to open a lot of things up and his tenacity on defense sparks the team.

Props the the Hounds Reserves, maybe the others will get the message...I give the coaching staff credit for sticking with the kids that played hard...:thumb:

I agree, I think this loss will pay big dividends for the Hounds if they are serious about winning the district and region this season. Sometimes people get fat and happy and forget what needs to be done in order to get the job accomplished. Coach P is not one to shy away from making a move or two in order to prove his points. I was also impressed with the Evans team. I thought they played under control and seemed to be well coached. That is the school of Darryl Dawkins and Chuckie Atkins of NC state fame. Great game to watch.

Close. Both went to Evans, but Dawkins never went to college and Chucky Atkins played his college ball at the University of South Florida.

Wish I had been there to see the game. Hope the Hounds come this way next year. I would to see them play Clearwater or Gaither again.

Crawford looked very good. The Evans bunch did not have an answer for him. The Hendrickson kid improves every time I see him. I believe Coach P got his point across. The lack of intensity for about 4 minutes cost the Hounds this game. If that happens at tournament time you don't get to play anymore. The second bunch got after it and gave the Hounds a chance to win. Some of these kids may have been paying to much attention to Les. Little Chucky Atkins used to run around Cumberland's campus when his daddy played there.

Does Corbin play today?

Corbin loses to Evans in the CFIT semi's. Coach P sat 3 of his starters(Johnson, Smith & Wilson)almost the entire second half, but some of the subs played well, especially Hendrickson, L. Crawford and Rogers.

Josh Crawford played approximately half the game and played very well finishing with a double-double.

Evans is a very good team, well coached and look to be the class of the tournament to me.

Corbin vs New Rochelle, NY (Bronx) tonight for 3rd place at 7-7:30pm.
