I am very aware of the game in question with the 89 free throws against number 1 ranked Louisville Shawnee I also know who was coaching at that time who you should know well Powell County did receive help and to the players credit they did hit their free throws and in a very important game in Powell County history we knocked off a #1 ranked team. The very next year we traveled to Louisville and paid the price! We did not cry over the game because we got what was expected on the road. And yes this still happens if you think it doesnt, just open your eyes. Unfortunately, the kids pay the price for adults to get the results they want. I am in no way saying that this is right but it is what it is sad but true. I have been around long enough to know that all the talk and gripping isnt going to change the way some things in sports are done. Everyone should know that this should be about the kids not the adults or officials but sometimes that is forgotten.

 

That win vs Louisville Shawnee is a very important game to Powell Co's opponents. Truly a red letter date in the history of Powell Co. And I doubt that Shawnee needed much help the following year 'on the road'.

 

My whole point is that just maybe Powell Co can be proven to be the most 'home-biased' court in all of KY basketball history....and still. If such a thing were to ever be investigated, this is where it would start....

I must agree with ARC, quite a compelling case for Powell to have a great home-court advantadge. The facts bears this out by the record book. Don't look like sour grapes to me. But you can always ignore the facts if its in your favor.

The more I look at this the more amazed I am. 11 out of the top 19 times the same team is involved in record free throw shots taken. Out of the hundreds of high schools in the state how can one school appear 11 out of the top 19 times. It is almost statistically impossible. Wow, this is definatly a strange record.

I do not think this could be proven. I can recall numerous tournaments at Powell County in years past--where Powell was playing and they did not win the tournament or even get past the first game--so you need to look south of Stanton to find some more "home-biased" courts that could perhaps satisfy the criteria that you have established.

I doubt that any team has won 100% of their home games or tournaments, so that could not be a solitary factor.

 

I just tossed those records from KHSAA out for people to view. And the more I think about it, every single record in the KHSAA files was submitted by some official or fan from each county. And if Powell Co sent in their records, then I am sure that they sent in all of their records for each stat. And still, they only make the 'record book' in the 'free throw' statistics. I can't help but smell something fishy.

 

What is done is done. For the future though, I hope that things statewide are more balanced.

If you look at those records above, most are against out of region teams and if you look at some of your teams when they play out of region teams, I'm sure most of the time that your team shot more free throws that the other team. And yes 35-5 is a big margin, but was Powell going inside more or was Pulaski pressing more so that causes more fouls, you have to look at the whole picture and not just the final count. If one team is playing a zone and the other is pressing or playing man, they are going to foul more. If one team penatrates and the other passes around and shoots outside that makes a difference too. How many freethrows were shot when they played at Pulaski a couple weeks ago??? what was the difference in that game? After you play a team, you know better how to play them the next time around, maybe the coaching staff came up with a better game plan this time. You guys are always so negative and 100% biased to you teams, you need to take a step back and look at the game as a whole and what is exactly going on.

Just curious, can you actually say that style of offense or defense is the reason that 10 of the 19 listed free throw record involves one school, Out of the hundreds of schools and the thousands of games that records are kept, that one school appears so frequently is not highly unusual. I do not attempt to state your mindset whether positive or negative I don't know. But to look at the facts and then try to explain someones motives for showing the FACTS is beyond my understanding. It just looks curious and at no time have I ever stated anyone is cheating. Just alot of coincidence. Let each person draw up thier own conclusions.
