Beechwood is for real

I received a call tonight saying the Tigers won by 17 over South Oldham. Last year the Tigers lost by 41 to South Oldham. These Tigers are not your mom and dad's Tigers. Can they compete with Cov. Cath. and Holmes, doubt it, but the All "A" is no longer out of the question. Good luck to Beechwood as they are now 5-0 on the season under first year coach Rick Shumate.

I believe Belfry bear Sheldon Clark 63-61.

Beechwood played some very good ball tonight. Best off all is that the team is loaded with underclassmen. Snyder, Beuttel, Romas, Daniels, and Pohlgeers are all coming back next year. The coaching staff is excellent!

Are we the best in 1A (as some said previously)? Nope. No way you can claim that till the boys prove themselves. Competition is tough. However, this group is capable.

Coach Shumate does have them playing well. I've seen them play a couple of times and I'm impressed.

Very fair, realistic and objective observations BWF!! Good to see them actually beef up their schedule a little this year, and play some quality 9th region opponents. They didn't get good at football by playing patsies. Good luck to them the rest of the way!!

Thanks StickerMann! I have been a BWF for a looong time..mostly for football and volleyball. However, I have a VERY special place in my heart for Nathan Snyder and came to see him play. I was very impressed in the quality of Beechwood basketball since I last watched the Tigers play. As the Observer said, definately NOT you mom and dad's Tiger basketball. I know, cause I was actually there!

I LOVE all Beechwood sports. Was thrilled to see the baseball team reach such great goals. No doubt, our basketball team is on their way!:ylsuper:

I've never been able to understand with the success BW has in most sports, why their hoops program has been so weak for years?? They almost seemed to accept their fate with a weak (even for a smaller school) schedule, etc. Good to see them attmepting to turn that around--It's all about committment!!

Good question. Not just about committment. I can PM you the answer to that one if you want to know my personal insight on that one.

Beechwoodfan, I am glad to see BW playing good basketball and have always wondered the same why they have not been good in BB. By the way you were born with Beechwood Blood in you and a very good BW supporter and fan. Good Luck. JD:dancingpa
