It would garner major ratings in the states of KY and Minn for ESPN. Of course adding KY and Minn's popluation together probably equals a couple of blocks of NYC.

I wish I could agree  I really do.

I don't know why you are even attempting to try to back Tubby. The guy absolutely ruined the greatest basketball program in the history of college athletics. So he has managed to beata bunch of nobodies. Big whoop. He will do nothing in Minnesota with his own players...just like he did nothing in Lexington with his own players.

His first 2 years were with Tulsa, who had a good roster, then he moved to Georgia when Harrick had filled a good roster, after a couple of years, fell into the UK job and a decent roster with kids and shooters who still knew how to play their system. A good 2 or 3 years and mediocrity started. First prolonged job. See a pattern there?

Yet all the programs hired him knowing the same thing that you do

As time goes by you begin to make less and less sense. Forget I wrote that, I am going to bed, I hope that when I wake up and turn on the TV, that it doesn't say Bill Gillespie's Wildcats got thumped for the 3rd time this season. A guy can dream can't he?

Glad to know that an average of 26 wins per season and 3 Elite 8 appearances is NOTHING.

2004-05, 28 and 6. Elite 8 appearance in which they lost in double OT.

I long for this mediocrity from Billy G.

How does it not make sense?

He got good rosters, did well with them, moved on before his recruiting took hold.

Got a job where he stayed more than 2 years, started to use his own recruits and started to become less of the super coach than it appeared from the first two stops.

A decent coach could take over a program with good, veteran players and do o.k. before bad recruitting hurt them, but by then, based on what he did with the good roster, he moved on to another similar situation, thus making him look really good.

When the recruiting does not have any effect, as much of it would not in a 2 year span if there was a good, set roster when you got there, flaws in your own choices will not appear. You look really good to potential employers.

How would they (New Employers) know it before the fact? He left Tulsa to Georgia. It did not matter what Tulsa did after that. In fact, it made him look better if they did bad. Made it look like it was all him. Same with the Bulldogs. Only matters if you stay somewhere long enough for your own recruiting to take hold. Minnesota looked at the numbers, even if they were somewhat flawed. 26 against questionable schedules still looks better than 9 wins.

WITH HIS OWN RECRUITS, I REPEAT...

2004-05, 28 and 6. Elite 8 appearance in which they lost in double OT.

And add

2002-03 32-4. Elite 8 appearance where they lost to what we would later find out as one of the greatest players of his generation. And I believe that this is the year that he went undefeated in the SEC WITH HIS OWN RECRUITS.

How many Elite 8's did Pitino make after his probation was over?

'92 (With Sutton's guys and Mash and a few of his own), WITH his guys '95, '96, '97 right off the top of my head. (AND there was an undefeated SEC season in there, but one loss in the SEC Tourney Title game, so there is a blemish.)

So, with that in mind, we have to share the '98 grouping with Pitino.

That's the mediocrity we're after.

The other "elites" do it year in and year out, but we're dropping from that group FAST!

Based on UK's history, you will need to wait another 40 years. Cause they only make those types of run every 40-50 years.

I'm just saying that Pitino was able to back himself up based on his recruiting.

Tubby was looking like that 40 year stretch with his recruiting would be our next elite 8 apperance!:D

Went to two Elite 8's in the 8 years that he coached in the 2000's with HIS RECRUITS and somehow you extrapolate that to another Elite 8 in 40 years.
