I thought Boone's defense stepped up. Their pass defense was better than the stat's will indicate. There were three "phantom" interference calls against them, two made from the line judge on the opposite side of the field; the other wasn't a catchable ball. Each bad call sustained a drive when BC had them stopped, Shelby scored 16 of their points as a result. The ref's were bad both ways though, Shelby completed a long pass on a comeback route for a first down and the spotter marked it two yards short, clearly five yards short of where he caught it! That said, good job Rebels! You've got your work cut out for you next week but as Arkansas proved yesterday, you can do it! That's why we play the games!!!

That is the way I understand it as well.

 

On one of the pass interfernce calls, it appeared the Boone defender was called for face guarding. I don't think they have that rule in high school? If not, Rebel91Dad is correct, the referee on the opposite side of the field called pass interference while the referee 5 yards from the play left his flag in his pocket.

Almost forgot, the fireworks before the game were a great touch. Very loud.

Face guarding is a HS rule and the Referee should be watching the QB after the pass for roughing, not watching down field.
