Another Great game tonight between Mason and Russell. Mason has a very good team. The only bad thing about these teams being in the same district means that one has to go out early.

 

It was classic Russell football in the fourth quarter. A defensive stand and then run out the last 5:00 of the game with the running game.

 

Mason really pulled out all of the stops in this one and Russell made some huge stops when they had to.

 

I still don't understand the ruling on the onside kick in the 3rd quarter. It was either Mason recovering the ball or the Russell player was down when he caught it. I have never seen a do-over before. Then Mason does it again and recovers. :mad:

That was amazing how that turned out. That young lady knows how to kick an on side kick. As for the do over. That was a first for me. You just don't see that in organized sports.

I was glad to see them put Bailey on number 12. It paid off big with the interception in the end zone. Correct me if I'm wrong but #12 scored all three TD's before Bailey came in to cover him.

I understand that it was an inadvertant whistle. That makes the ball dead. With the ball going ten yards and being called dead by an inadvertant whistle I would think the ball would go to the receiving team.

Because Pollitt and Cox great at running the ball. That is enough of a reason to me.

 

 

 

The Russell defense really looked more concerned with shutting down the running game that Mason used so effectively the first time these teams met. In my opinion they did a pretty good job of doing that but it did open up the passing game for Mason.

But the rule states that the down must be replayed.

Oh....sorry. Yeah....I didn't know about it either until I was coaching in a JV game and an official blew an inadvertent whistle on a punt and made us re-punt the ball after we boomed it. The next play we got it blocked and I was going off about the rule. I found out later that it was a rule.

From what I understood, it wasn't a matter of who recovered it. It was that one official said they recovered it in bounds and the other official said they was out of bounds.
