Your School Little League Program

I would like to hear from some of the other posters on here what their school has for little league football and also the middle school level. Mayfield football starts in the fourth grade. There is a fourth, fifth, sixth, 7th and 8th grade team. In the fourth, fifth and sixth grade there is a rule where everyone gets to play and there is a weight limit on how much a running back can weigh to be able to run the ball. 100 pound limit for 4th grade, 115 pound limit for 5th grade and a 130 pound limit for 6th grade. These teams play the same day right after each other. They play Paducah, Murray, Heath, Lone Oak and the teams. There is one team for each grade with usually 18 to 25 players on each team. The 7th and 8th grade teams have no weight limit and play most of the local teams including

Not necessarily the school's program, more like the cities. But, I witnessed last night the thing that makes the Fort Thomas Jr. Football League such a success. They had the annual 'Quinn Stapleton 8th Grade Appreciation Game' and Quinn would've been proud. I would say close to 50% of the HHS bleachers were full and future Bluebirds (and a couple of Breds) were running EVERYWHERE around the stadium. It was a spectacle, to say the least...

I'll let LN or someone else better describe the league and rules...

Raceland has a JFL program that starts in Kindergarten and runs through 6th grade. Kindergarten and first grade play flag football, 11 on 11. We have a 2nd grade tackle team, a 3rd grade tackle team, a 4th grade tackle team, a 5th grade tackle team, and a 6th grade tackle team. All coaches are volunteers, and most of the time a parent is the coach and coaches from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I have coached the current 6th grade team from kindergarten all the way up. We used to have a weight limit, but did away with it. We, also, play all games on Saturdays, with games running back to back. Raceland's JFL plays: Greenup Co's JFL, Lawrence Co, JFL, Boyd Co's JFL, and sometimes we play Fairviews JFL, Russell's JFL, and East Carter's JFL.

We also have a single elimination tournament at the beginning of the season and another one at the end of the season. We invite a lot of different teams to the tournaments that we do not play in the regular season. Some from Ohio, and some from neighboring counties.

Our junior high program, 7th and 8th grade is ran by the school, and has school hired coaches.

Gallatin County started there pee-wee program about 5 years ago. They offer teams starting at grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. They play teams from Grant, Owen, and Pendleton County, and also maybe Walton Verona. The coaches are all volunteer. The middle school plays 7-8 graders and they have a hired coach.

Pulaski Co. Youth football league has been important to the success both high schools have seen in recent years. They set the league up in each of the Co. elementary schools and divided by North division (PC side) and South division (SW side). This does as much for hte PC/SW rivalry because they know from jump who is playing where. Actually just had the little League Championships thsi weekend and I found out that the Junior (8-9 yr olds) winners are 39-1 over the last four years and won 34 in a row until this year. The team that beat them was the team they had to beat to go to the "Super Bowl", which they did in dramatic Fashion last weekend. I have never seen that many fans at a little league game - especially to see some 8 and 9 year olds play.
