Power surge???

I wasn't there but they heard some sort of explosion type noise and the lights went out.

Carroll is really struggling this year. I know a new coach, but I thought they had some seniors that were supposed to lead the way? Rose's injury has been well documented on here, but what about the rest of the bunch? Good luck to the Panthers!

No line, no offense, no defense. That about sums it up. The coaching staff, as a whole, needs to get on the same page. In the out of season (because they don't need an off season) they need to go back to the basics. These kids don't seem to know how to play sound fundamental football. It seems we only have 2-5 plays in the offensive playbook and they are extremely easy to defend.

This needs to happen from peewee on up. The middle school teams need to consolidate into one team and not have a school team and a yellow jackets team. The varsity coach needs to oversee all of these teams. The peewee kids need to be learning the foundation to what they will be doing in high school.

The coaching staff needs to take a good hard look at what a disservice they have done to these boys this year. We need to take a look at successful programs and see what they are doing that we aren't. When I was in school, my sophomore year we did not win a game and in my senior year, we only lost one. It is possible to turn this around and quickly, but it will take work and dedication. These boys need to want it, badly!!

FNL Some of what you are saying is very true, however it is not the coaching staff that has done the injustice here, it is our community. Without getting political I will just say what you probably already know. We have no pee wee outside of the Yellow Jackets and that has just evolved in the past couple years, prior to that the only youth football we had was the JR. SR. yellow Jackets. Now many want the Yellow Jackets to combine with the Middle School when they get in 7th grade ? Are you kidding me ? Why doesnt our school system or the parks and rec program provide a league in this town where we dont have to drive to Oldham county every Sat. to play. I could go on but again, I will not get politcal we just need more vision in this community.

Can someone explain to an outsider how all of this works in your community?

Be glad to. The only football feeder program we have prior to Middle School is our Yellow Jacket team which has to travel to Oldham County to play on Saturday, which is fine, it is an outstanding league. We have three teams total a pee wee, a JR. and a SR. team. Not exactly sure how the ages break down but the SR. team consists mainly of sixth and seventh graders with an occasional eighth grader that meets the age deadline. Some are under the opinion that when the kids get of middle school age they should have to play middle school. Some have even asked the coach to do away with the SR. team. I feel that is alot to ask for many reasons especially since the Jackets are the only entity taking an interest in our kids playing football prior to even getting to Middle School. The Yellow Jackets are the only remaining team from our league which has been dissolved for over twenty years I believe.

I saw the middle school team play and the J.V. play this year. They seem to have some players to build around. Good luck to them.

I see. Is it unreasonable to think that having all 7th/8th graders playing on the same (MS) team would be better for the longevity of the program?

Tall Trees,

Does Trimble make their 6th graders play middle school?

I believe that Trimble would be best serve with a Team in Milton and Bedford, instead of (1) 3 & 4 grade and (1) 5th grade team.

Since Tall Trees didn't post in this thread, I will assume that you meant me. If this is thread-jacking, I apologize.

Are you meaning that the team in Milton and the one in Bedford would play each other? What would that gain?

Not unreasonable at all. What the Yellow Jacket program does is provide another way for the kids to play, especially the sixth graders. Believe me I do understand the importance of building team chemistry at a young age. It just bothers me that a program that has been the only form of a feeder program for years is asked to dissolve their team. Ideally we would have a league of about six to eight teams and those kids would all move on to middle school and then to high school. However as I posted earlier no one with the exception of the yellow jacket program seems to want to address this issue, so the debate will continue until someone does.

No,

Bedford and Milton should have separate teams and play with New Castle, Pleasureville, Campbellsburg and Eminence.
