Most on here know my baseball history. I chose not to play at the small colleges that recruited me (Cumberland, Campbellsville, Union, Tennessee Wesleyan, LMU, among several others, mostly NAIA) because I wanted the big college experience. I had plans to walk on at EKU, but decided about a 3 weeks before classes started Richmond still wasnt big enough for me and I made my way to Lexington. At that point I decided I was done with playing baseball.

 

Do I meet your approval? I dont know how old you guys are, but maybe you have seen more games than I have. I am 25 and played 3 sports in high school, as well as being active in college, so I guess I didnt sit down and watch baseball every night. However, I feel confident in my abilities to evaluate a game. Ask around.:sssh:

 

 

You learn more by playing and watching. Baseball is baseball and I'm sorry that Richmond and all the other schools weren't "big" enough for you. Watching people play for the love of the game is where you learn the game. I went to one of those places that was too small for you on an academic and baseball scholarship. I learned more the first year I was there then I had up until that point. I watch 200-300 baseball games of all types a year and I'd wager that S3 watches even more, I don't have to take up for him--anyone on here will tell you that he knows what he is talking about. It really doesn't matter if you played 6 sports in high school, we're talking baseball--and baseball at a higher level than what you've experienced. Watching the Braves doesn't count.

I love the game, but I was looking at the bigger picture for me, knowing that I probably wasnt going to play ball for the rest of my life.

I dont know why you feel I am putting down those schools. It just wasnt for me. Everybody is different.

I know S3 is considered to know his stuff on here, and generally he is spot on. I dont agree with him there. Big deal.

My point on the sports I played in high school was more to say that I didnt always have time to watch baseball in high school. I was out playing the game as opposed to watching it. Playing double headers 3 or 4 days a week in the summer in legion ball. All the players there were college bound, so maybe I didnt see it at the next level, but I got a taste.

Its a shame you have to talk down to me about baseball to make yourself feel good about what you know. I just chalk it up as you dont know who you are talking to. I am comfortable with what I know, and I will put it up against pretty much any person on this site.

Again, read my post. I had an ACADEMIC and baseball scholarship. I'm fairly certain that the first part of the equation has carried me in my adult life. As for playing it I did all that you talk about, in addition I played through college. Did you even read my post? And yes we had Legion Ball where I grew up, we even won the state--ever heard of the Post 38 Twins with Grundy and Burton? I think you were the one that originally talked down to all of us on here. BTW did you play at Bell Co? The same school that has barbed wire along its rightfield fence?

There you go. Judge me based on something I have no control over. I didnt play outfield anyway, so not my problem. I think it should say something that in spite of the fact of the state of the Bell Co. baseball program between the two Greer tenures (which is when I played) I was selected to play Legion Ball and get scholarship offers for baseball.

I had an academic scholly at EKU as well, so we can go back and forth on this all day if you like.

Not familiar with your team. I played for the London Hummers. We did a few things in our day too.

You are right. You are so much better than me. You have a much greater baseball mind than I do. I dont know what I was thinking. All Hail AJG. He is always right.
