Playoff Question

Featured Replies

With the new six classification playoffs set to start in a few weeks...a quick question. With the district teams playing each other in the playoffs for the "District Champioships" if a team from a "western district" other than the #1 seed wins the district playoff championships and has to face the "eastern district" champion who happens to be a #1 seed... who travels were considering that this year east travels west.

I know there is some confusion among fans, and even some coaches on what this new type of playoff scenario means...can someone out there shed some light on what would happen if this type of scenario happens.

Thanks...I will hang up and lister to your answer off the air!!!

I believe odd-numbered districts are at home in odd-numbered years.

In this scenario, the #1 seed from the eastern district hosts based upon being the higher seed.

For the third round of the playoffs (Regional Championships), here are the rules on who hosts in order of precedence:

1) The higher seed. (i.e. if District 1 winner is a #1 seed and District 2 winner is a #2 seed, District 1 winner hosts)

2) Odd numbered district hosts in odd years and the even numbered district in even years. (i.e. District 1 AND District 2 winners are #1 seeds, in 2007 the District 1 winner would host, in 2008 the District 2 winner would host, etc.)

3) Higher numbered district in even years, lower numbered district in odd years. (i.e. If they're the same seed and both from even numbered district, say District 2 and District 4 are playing, then District 2 would host this year since it is an odd year and 2 is lower than 4. Next year District 4 would host in an even year).

For the fourth round, the second rule is the only one that matters. The odd region hosts in odd years, the even region in even years.
