October 16, 200718 yr 100% correct but I don't think that was the question/argument being made. I read the question to be in regards to the value/perception of your degree when looking for a job out of college. Which is why I stated that the name of the school on the degree does aid in getting your foot in the door.................... I.E. The school you attend does matter (to some extent). I read the question as value/perception from the individual's perspective and the potential employer's perspective.

If I'm an employer though and it's down to two candidates and all other things being equal I'm taking the guy from Harvard over the guy from EKU, or Morehead St. Even if the guy from Harvard was a total nerd and hard to work with? It takes more than just smarts. There has to be the whole package. You have to be able to work with this person.

I was just thinking the same thing reading through this post. Anymore it's who you know, not what you know or have. Also, some places look at being in a particular fraternity or sorority moreso than your degree.

And for the fraternity or sorortiy thing, that is just scary.:scared:

Talking to some interns and hiring managers at places, being in a frat or sorority is a big deal anymore. And depending on the hiring manager, what frat or sorority matters. I applied for a job at P&G a few years back, and the questionaire they send you has a section all about fraternity and sorority affiliation. I went to one of their booths at a job fair, and when asked if I was in one, the conversation immediately went south.
