October 23, 200718 yr What do you know...occasionally the favorite does win. I love to watch Anderson Silva fight...he's the most exciting fighter in the UFC right now. He gives you what you pay to see. I thought the fight was over about midway through the first round...it seemed that Franklin came out with a plan and tried to execute it, only to have Silva pretty much brush it off...while Anderson looked calm and confident as always. I love the way he's so patient to start the fight, like he's feeling his opponent out and measuring him up and then when he starts to attack he's just so precise and devastating. I think his strength has been underrated, but I doubt it will be anymore. Things that stood out to me... 1. Silva is stronger than Franklin...and once that became obvious, you had to know Rich had no chance to win this fight. His only chance going in was to overpower him, IMO, get him down and pound him. No way he can stand and strike with Silva and his submission ground game isn't as good. 2. The Clinch destroyed him again. And part of that is the strength thing, but it seemed like Silva would just wait for Rich to come in and throw some punches so he could grab that clinch...he landed some good knees and I think they really hurt Rich. 3. Silva did look bigger...especially his arms (biceps). 4. Who is going to fight Silva? Franklin is, IMO, the second best fighter in UFC's MW division and he's been completely destroyed twice by the guy. If Dan Henderson doesn't drop down and fight Silva, there is no one I'm currently aware of that can beat Silva. I think he and Henderson would be a great, great matchup...I'd love to see it. I expect to see it happen because it makes too much sense...there is no one else UFC can hype up to fight Silva right now unless they bring someone else in and I can't think of any possibilities (realistic). I've heard Dan Henderson wants to stay at Light Heavyweight.

That's what everything I read on the internet says, but I'm sure Dana White could make him a good enough offer to convince him to drop to MW and fight Anderson Silva...of course, the probably would be what if Henderson wins and doesn't want to stay a LHW.
October 23, 200718 yr Benefit? Certainly. Improve enough to beat a guy who has completely destroyed him twice? Very unlikely. Besides, didn't Rich used to be in the Militech camp with Hughes and Sylvia, or am I mistaken? That should have been a pretty solid training ground. The Militech Fighting System is, well, not as good a some others like I mentioned but I see your point. Hendo will probably not re-sign with the UFC according to all I have read so I see them doing him like they are doing AA - stalling.......

But, if they don't watch themselves they're going to leave the door wide open for a rival organization to really challenge them... 1. Couture leaves...will that force UFC to change the way they do business, or will it lead to other guys following Randy out the door? 2. Fedor signs with M-1 giving it instant credibility...will some other guys follow him to M-1? The UFC is certainly still in a great position, but these are the type of things that can open the door for competitors to make some headway. They might want to start operating a little differently.

It isn't going to happen all at once...I'm just saying, with the way they've raised the knowledge of MMA, it would be easier for a rival organization to get noticed. Like I said, UFC is still in a great position, but if they continue to offend top fighters and these guys go elsewhere, you could see some competition. If M-1 can steadily build its stable of fighters and get some UFC defects and get some sort of TV deal that will give them some exposure, they could make some headway in a couple years.
