The score is very surprising to most as Perry Central picks up a big district win over the district favorite. Anybody have any details on this game?

No excuses for Whitley, they did not come out ready to play and may have been a little off due to the week off. PCC came ready to play and it showed.

 

Whitley was driving early and fumbled the ball and PCC took it straight downt the field and scored, then forced Whitley to punt and scored again taking a 14 point lead. It was a tough game for Whitley but they showed some guts and faught back and took the lead at 42-40. PCC responded and took the lead back. Whitley was driving (had a TD called back, their second of the night called back) and never recoved from that after the penalty and then threw an INT. PCC had third and short witth time left for Whitley to get their offense back on the field but their back ran it in for a TD which was the final score. Whitley gave up a ton of yards and had a ton of yards but just did not come ready to play defensively.

 

They still control their own destiny if they can recover and beat Letcher and Clay they will be the district #1 seed, but they have to get over the tough loss

They need a win in the worst way this Friday..........one that I think they will get.

Whitley seemed to be moving forward nicely this season but this was a setback losing this game. Good win for Perry Central though.

They didn't beat Perry, and you think they will get a W against Letcher and Clay? Not a chance. District #1 is out the door.

Remember two things, ...

 

1. This is still a young Whitley team. They will continue to improve, just a bump in the road

2. PCC's coach is the ONLY coach (during his first tenure) who had a winning record. He can coach and will turn PCC into a very solid program given time.

I look for PCC to get a reality check this weekend against Clay. Clay has lost 2 in a row and will be very hungry when they pull into Airport Gardens on homecoming night at PCC.

Afraid you are right about the reality check. Clay don't want to lose 3 games in a row and if you have seen how PCC tackles, it may get embarrassing. Clay will score every time they have the ball, unless they accidentally tackle themselves. Coach Browne maybe a good offensive coach, but where is his defensive skills? Made a big mistake when they let the defensive coordinator go from last year.

The defensive coordinator from last year only allowed about 40 pts per game the past couple of years. I think Bobby Keith Dixon should be coaching football especially the defensive side of the ball.

The loss is devastating. I don't see any reason to believe that they can beat either one of these teams. Both are more solid and more athletic.
