You keep dreaming that dream! Russell won't even be number one or two after they play the rams!

You Raceland guys crack me up.

Mine would be

1 Johnson Central

2 Russell

3 Ashland

4 East Carter

5 Raceland

6 Lawrence Co and Boyd Co tie[/quote

No love for Fairview, they beat East Carter and Ashland is winless. Ashland is the worst team I have seen around here in my opinion or Boyd. Russell is 4 TD's better than them but it's always close between those two schools. I don't totally disagree with you but you can't place 0 win teams in the top 7 that's crazy.

I've been called worse than crazy. :D

I thought about Fairview and I know they beat East Carter early in the season. I just think Ashland and Boyd are better regardless of the records. And East Carter has changed their offense to better suit their personnel.

Ashland has two of the best skill people in the area in Thomas and Carter. The fact that those two can break one at any time just make Ashland a dangerous team. The Tomcats have played a very tough schedule. They are not a bad 0-5 team as silly as it may sound.

Boyd Co is the one that really has me scratching my head. They are like a jig saw puzzle. All of the pieces are there. The just need to be put together in the right way.

First of all let me say

Even if the Rams were to beat Russell that would only be one loss and it would not knock them off the top spot.

Yeah actually it would. Thats why after JC's first loss last week, they moved down to number two. NIce try though. LOL

The way the Independent poll works is JC lost first so if Russell lost after they did and they have the same record Russell would stay at the top. Nice try but the Independent super 7 poll is based on nothing more than records. As far as I have seen there is nothing scientific to it.

There is nobody on Russell's schedule of the caliber of Woodford Co. If Russell loses a game and JC doesn't, Russell will drop a spot.

I don't think that there is anybody else close to JC and Russell, so it would take a big upset for either to drop below #2, IMO. Russell has a good shot at running the regular season table, so we may never know for sure who is right.

Absolutely true. The only team that will be close IMO will be 6A Simon Kenton and we have yet to see how that game will play out.

Depending on how each team's season unfolds, I could see Russell losing a close game to Simon Kenton and hanging on to the top spot even without a JC loss. There was nothing close about the Eagles' upset loss to Woodford and SK may even be a slight favorite over Russell.

Cal preps has Russell losing by a TD.

Massey has Russell losing 31-28

Should be a good one.

There is nobody on Russell's schedule of the caliber of Woodford Co.

Besides Simon Kenton there is still Mason Co. They may be up there as well.

Woodford's win over a hurting Johnson Central was impressive. But Woodford did struggle with Montgomery Co and Bullitt East.

Its hard to judge just by going by the scores. Arguments could be made either way here.

Agreed, but at this point in the season, the Massey ratings support my argument that Woodford is better than anybody Russell will face in the regular season.

Woodford #16 (JC loss)

Central #24 (future JC opponent)

Simon Kenton #28 (future Russell opponent)

Belfry #39 (future JC opponent)

Montgomery #47 (lost to SK)

Bullit East #50 (lost to SK)

Mason #75 (future Russell opponent)

By the end of the season, I think the question of who the best team in NE KY will be settled. If JC handles Central and Belfry, the top spot will be theirs. If they stumble and Russell handles Mason and hangs tough against SK, then they will probably finish on top.

I expect the Tomcats to claw their way back into the Super 7 within the next couple of weeks. I expect them to beat Boyd County and follow it up with a decent showing against Woodford.

Correct. There is alot left to play out. We shall see as the season moves along.

I think you meant Bullitt East and Montgomery lost to Woodford County and not Simon Kenton.

Simon Kentons wins have come against Ryle(#11 by Massey) and Connor(#101 by Massey). Connor by the way lost to both Johnson Central (50-12) and Simon Kenton (43-14) by similarly lopsided scores. What that means I'm not real sure but it does give more points to compare all of these teams.

Yes, I meant to say that WC beat BE and MC. Thanks for the catch!:thumb:

The good thing it that IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER. We're all pretty much playing for different championships at the end of the season. Is Johnson Central better than Russell? They don't play so it is hard to say. Probably are though. Is Fairview better than East? Fairview won the game, so they pretty much must be. It's really all a moot point, except for fan based bragging. Comparing teams each play will never be a good catalyst, unless they are the same teams. Even then, it can be cloudy.

Case in point:

Does Johnson Central's 14-3 victory over Wheelersburg compared to Russell's 53-15 win over West Carter REALLY show us who is the better team? Does Fairview's 62-15 win over Lewis County mean they are better than Mason County, who only beat Lewis 56-7?

I don't care where you at during the season....1st, 4th or 10th, my main concern is where your at the end of the season.
