Mason County must continue to win the special teams battle. They have done an outstanding job the past two games in placing kickoffs and covering the return men.

 

They will also have to contain the Campbell County QB, substitute liberally enough to keep the guys that play on both sides of the ball reasonably fresh, and not lay the ball on the ground. Linemen must hold their ground, get a modest amount of pressure, and the LBs must make plays.

 

On offense, a healthy Thompson returning to the lineup will help. Cox needs to spread the ball around because I just don't think the Royals will be able to run the ball down CC's throat all day long (hope I'm wrong).

 

If Mason does these things, the Royals win a squeaker. 23-21. If they don't Campbell County goes back up the AA highway with a W.

Ashland played scrimmages with both Mason and Campbell Co. pre-season. It’s really hard to judge teams on those early performances, so this one is hard for me to call. I was really impressed with Campbell’s LBs – big, strong and fast. They will be hard to handle.
