September 4, 200719 yr 8 Teams...I had the 7th pick QB - Peyton Manning, Brett Favre RB - Reggie Bush, Cedric Benson, Marshawn Lynch, Deuce McAllister, Adrian Peterson (Chi) WR - Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitzgerald, Lee Evans, Bernard Berrian TE - Chris Cooley, Owen Daniels K - Adam Vinatieri DEF - New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers
September 4, 200719 yr I still don't get the obsession with Lynch! Keeper league, sure. but he's been the most over rated player this year IMO. No reason for two TE's, or D's. Drop one of each and pick up another RB and WR. In an 8 team league -middle of the road. 10 or 12 team league, you're good, but not 8.

Well, if it makes you feel any better (and I doubt it will), I'd have drafted Baltimore's defense instead of Lynch, because I might have gotten him anyway. I like Lynch. I expect him to be a great one at some point...whether it's this year or not, who knows, but I liked the RB situation enough to take a chance on it.
September 4, 200719 yr VERY deep at RB. 2 pretty good receivers, Peyton will always give you good stats. Great defense and kicker.
September 5, 200719 yr I think you have a strong team. All teams in a 8 team league should have a strong starting unit but I think it's a positive to have the top QB/K along with a top 5 defense.

September 5, 200719 yr OK, top 3.5 Defense. Still good to be in upper half of the league as far as average rankings go.
September 5, 200719 yr Author There's a pretty big drop in defenses after #3 or 4...Chicago, Baltimore and New England are pretty much always the top 3. Besides, at the time I drafted them, that was the position that was going to give me the biggest point differential. I already had Peyton, Reggie, Benson, Wayne and Fitzgerald...so my starting lineup was set and there were plenty of guys left to solidify my bench. I figured it would be smarter to take a consistent producer on defense.
September 5, 200719 yr Author Here's another team I got...a friend of mine started a league in Yahoo... 10 Teams, 5th pick...Autodraft (I pre-ranked my players) QB - Vince Young, Brett Favre RB - Steven Jackson, Cedric Benson, Marshawn Lynch, Ahman Green Adrian Peterson (Chi) WR - Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Santonio Holmes, Bernard Berrian TE - Jason Witten, Heath Miller K - Olindo Mare DEF - Baltimore Ravens I dropped D. J. Hackett to pick up Olindo Mare and I dropped Fred Taylor to pick up Adrian Peterson...I would have never done that without Cedric Benson. I don't have much confidence in Taylor staying healthy anyway. I'm still amazed that I got Steven Jackson with the 5th pick...what is up with these people? If Cedric Benson pans out, I think I have the best team in this league. I'm almost guaranteed steady production from my RB's and WR's...I should be more consistent than anyone in the league at those two positions together.

I disagree....I think Lynch will get between 1200-1500 yards this year. (At least I'm hoping he does! )
September 5, 200719 yr I disagree....I think Lynch will get between 1200-1500 yards this year. (At least I'm hoping he does! )If he carries 400-450 times you might be right. At this point he might not even start.
September 5, 200719 yr If he carries 400-450 times you might be right. At this point he might not even start. I think he's going to be given the majority of the carries from day 1. Anthony Thomas is worthless IMO.
September 5, 200719 yr I think he's going to be given the majority of the carries from day 1. Anthony Thomas is worthless IMO.And that's why he was so easy for me to pick up off the waiver wire. What about Lynch gives you hope? Was it his 1.1 YPC in the preseason?
September 5, 200719 yr Author Lynch will be the guy at some point...early on Thomas will probably split some carries with him, but at some point, Lynch will be getting the majority. I expect him to give some pretty solid production in the last half of the season at the least...he could/should be a stud in the NFL, but like most rookies, he'll probably have some ups and downs in his first year, along with an adjustment period early on. At 5'11" and 217 pounds, he's got good size, game-breaking speed, ankle-breaking moves and he can catch...I don't understand why anyone wouldn't expect him to be good. He averaged over 6 yards per carry for his career at Cal...
September 5, 200719 yr Author And that's why he was so easy for me to pick up off the waiver wire. What about Lynch gives you hope? Was it his 1.1 YPC in the preseason? We all know how important the pre-season is...
