Bowling Green 49 Boyle Co. 21

Many thanx, Rebel! We enjoyed meeting you as well, and wished we had more time to meet with you. We both wished that more Rebel fans had come to see us, but we understand. I hope that the rest of the season is a more Boyle Co-like season! The pieces seem to be there, especially offensively. The guys just need to study this game film hard and learn from it, then implement what they learn on the field.

Trent Steelman did not tie the bowl record for most TD passes, as he had three...Warren Central's QB had four last year. Austin Schlinke (pronounced like slinky except for the "sh" sound at first) rewrote the interceptions section of the bowl records. The 70 points combined were the most in the bowl's history. Alfred Gilbert's return of the fumble has forced me to open another category in the bowl's individual and team records: Longest Fumble Return.

I will be sending a copy to Chris Pardue to see if Boyle Co achieved anything that belongs in the record book, as I will with Sam Simpson at Henry Clay and Bill Cox at Warren Central...very important for me to keep the bowl records up to date!:D

Saturday night we got a little confused as to what time the game started and showed up latered than we wanted to (I'll blame the time difference). Next time dinner is on me! :D Who knows maybe we will be back again next season? Goodluck against Trinity, we will be pulling for you.

It wasn't a reverse. Boyle for the past 10 years has always ran a end around in every game, and have had success at it all the time. It's a play they run quite alot and practice often. To my view it would have worked on this attemp, but a bad exchanged spoiled it. To me this was the right time to call this play. Boyle was not deprived in any way of an opportunity to get back in the game. ;) It was nothing more than a couple of 16 year olds making a mistake at a very bad time.

I remember Jacob Tamme running this play 3-4 times a game when he played for Bolyle and it worked great everytime time. Unfortunately, it didn't Sat night. It was definitly a unforced fumble. I'm not sure if it was the exchange or if the back dropped it after he took the handoff. I feel much better about Boyle now than I did after the scrimmge against Madison Central. They really moved the ball well Sat night.

Congrats PH! You must be proud of the Purples, anytime you get a W against Boyle its a good night

PurpleHaze it was nice to meet you and your wife last night at the ballgame. Had a great time and goodluck for the rest of the season. :thumb:

Now about the game. I came away pleased as to what I seen from Boyle unill the turnover that BG ran back 92 yards in the 4th. quarter. Boyle was very much in the game, early in the 4th. quarter. Things just seem to get worse as the game drawed closer to end. The offence looks to be a step ahead of the Defence right now. The Offence had over 300 yards passings and around 150 rushing. Moving the chains was no problem, turnovers where what hurt the Rebels late in the game. Like I said I came away pleased with the effort and I look forward to the rest of the season. :bunny:

According to our numbers, there was only ten yards difference in total offense between the two teams! It might have been a different story if the turnovers hadn't happened. I came away very impressed with the Rebels...not an ounce of quit in them! I'm hoping that they'll go far in the 4A playoffs. We'll see you again next season when you all play Central and we have Henry Clay in the nightcap!:D

Jacob Tamme never ran that play. It is only ran by the tight ends, and Jacob never lined up at TE. Adam, his cousin, played tight end, and ran the play, and it did usually work.

I do also feel much better than after the scrimmage

The only objection i would have to make, is that an end around and especially that play, requires no penetration. The question is, on the goalline, with defensive linemen bear-crawling for penetration, do you run a complicated and delayed hand-off? I do agree that it was a gutsy call, and it could have worked, but the right time, probably not. I have watched alot of Boyle games and that play works effectively in space.
