From the way it sounds Holmes didnt come ready to play or was NCC that dominate?

Hard to tell that one. Holmes has a QB that was fun to watch. Better keep your eyes open when you go to tackle him. He can make you miss real fast. He will bring alot of excitement to Covington. The offense has guys flying all over the place. Coach Lickert and that talent could be dangerous very soon. Good Luck

This is going to sound like a slap at the NKY 6A Class but it really isn't.

 

IMO this Holmes team could have had more success in NKY 6A than they will in NKY 5A.

 

I say this because their quickness in the backfield would give some of the 6A teams fits and I think that might offset their lack of numbers and depth and allow them to hang around in some games. In NKY 5A Highlands and CovCath will likely be faster and deeper big time. They are similar offensively to the NCC team that Holmes couldn't handle except they might have even more kids.

 

I mean obviously being in the same district as Highlands and CovCath isn't a great spot but it might be even worse if what you do best is offset.

How did Kelly look at RB?

Kelly looked pretty good... He is a very hard runner and will have a very good year... Like i said before though hold onto the football

What did you read that tells you Holmes wasn't ready to play?

 

 

The score. It seemed like Holmes was "flat" comming out to the second half. In the first two quarters NCC caught some breaks and Holmes really didnt do to bad but as the opening kickoff of the second half showed with NCC returning it the Holmes own two yard line, Holmes seemed winded.

What is up with Holmes kicker there was no ball that was kicked deep at all

Holmes has had problems at PK the past couple of years. Going for the two was a safer bet than kicking the PAT.

I believe the kid kicking off was about the third kicker...

 

Not sure what happened with the others...

If Lickert did what he did at Dayton he will try the squib kick majority of the time. Which means that there opponents will have good field position arouond the 40

I am sure that was just because of lack of kicking talent. I don't think any coach would let the other team get the ball at the 40 everytime unless he had no other option.

Dayton did do alot of squib kicks, and if Lickert plans on doing any of that this season i think the defense would have to stop the the run more. Against NCC they took away the "deep ball" pretty well,but stopping the run was a whole-nother ballgame

Good report there animal control 08. How do you predict the Dayton game if they can stop the deep ball and not the run? Were they effective with the underneath crossing passes?
