Sorry, I looked at the word differently than you meant it, I guess. Also to Larry, my bad, I have been to possibly every different church there is in the Christian religion, except Catholic, and I have found that everyone of them is right. As long as they believe in the basic of Christianity then great.

A student there the night before worship service was having some second thoughts about his Faith. He thought "OK God if you are real do not let the speaker speak tomorrow."

 

The next day the speaker came to the podium and stood there for a few seconds told the people "I don't feel led to speak and sat down".

 

The student came forward and shared his thoughts.

 

People started coming to the altar...Praying, crying, hugging each other, asking Jesus to forgive them. This went on for several weeks and made the national news. 24/7

 

I have a copy of the TV portion of the news telling the story and talked to several people who were there.

I attend Lindsey Wilson College and Asbury representatives are ALWAYS down there. I can't keep from hearing about all the preachers, excuse me Ministers of Word (yeah how weird) coming from the school. That is pretty amazing, one person started all of that.

Well after last night 6 MORE PEOPLE GOT SAVED! The revival has been extended to friday night which will be the 20th day

So in the day of automobiles, computers, and every other kind of technology when did knowledge pass. Verse 10 is very clear on this. When they perfect comes is refering to the rapture of the church. You can say it was when Jesus was put on earth, but tongues never came until after the resurection and this was wrote after the resurection.

I speak in tongues and am Pentecostal, by no way am I prideful. But I tell you this we hav ea new church in a year and so time we have had close to 200 ppl saved. We have had I think 5 people healed of cancer with Doctor reports to prove it. A man healed of throat disease, a lady of seizures all kind of good stuff. Not saying the tongues is because of it but if we are so prideful God wouldnt work through us.

And to answer a question you asked in another post. Here is how tongues is different than a regular prayer. Tongue is a prayer language for God. Satan can hear your every conversation with God, but not in the Heavinly Language.

By no means does it save you or anything like that, but it is to give you the power to witness. And it gave me a tremendous boldness. Like Peter when Jesus was on the cross he cowered away and hid. But who stood out and prached to the men after the Holyghost fell in the upper room? It was Peter they must have been something different about him.

1st Corinthians 13:8 "Love never fails, but where there are prophecies, they will CEASE; where there are tongues, they will be STILLED; where there is knowledge; it will PASS." verse 9 says..."For we know in part and we prophesy in part, verse 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect DISAPPEARS."

 

 

These three things cease because they are partial in nature and will be unneccesary.

 

Acts 2...at Penecost verse 5 "Now they were staying in Jerusalem, God fearing Jews from EVERY NATION under heaven, 6 when they heard this sound a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them SPEAKING IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE, Utterly amazed they asked "are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how it is that each of us hears them in thier own NATIVE LANGUAGE?"

Glad you asked. I had the same question.

There is something I have never quite understood about the speaking in tongues of modern day. If it goes back to the Day of Pentecost, then why is it so drastically different than what they did then?

 

The account of the Day of Pentecost, when Peter preached the first gospel sermon, tells of all the apostles speaking and everyone understood every word they were speaking. There were present peoples of different nations, all who spoke and understood their own native language, and the Apostles were all Galileans.

 

They weren't speaking jibberish, their words were not unintelligible babbling. No, on the contrary, EVERYONE understood EVERY word, regardless of what nationality they were. That would be like me addressing the UN, and when I open my mouth and speak my natural native English, everyone heard me in their native language. Spanish speaking people would hear Spanish, French would hear French, and so on.

 

The Holy Spirit spoke through these men to get their message out to the multitudes, it was miraculous. It was necessary because of the great language barrier between the Apostles and all the people present.

 

And I don't see how that example translates into the speaking in tongues we see today. Please know that I'm not being snide, I'd just like to be able to understand it better.

Here is a story you might enjoy from a old pastor friend of mine. He was preaching at his church and started speaking in tongues while he was preaching. Didn't interupt anything but it just kind of came out after he said soemthing which he frequentley done. These people who were visiting were waiting on him after the service. They were like sir you speak Japaneese very well. He was like what are you talking about I dont. And they were like oh yeah you do, you was praising God in it while you were preaching.

Pentecost is misrepresented a lot and you can pick out a few to dog us (not you but ppl in general) but sadly all organisations has its fakes. I dont agree with people teaching that you must speak in tongues to be saved, its rediculas and non scriptual. But they are plenty of us Pentecostals out there with a sound head. Our church we dont push it on ppl, we will preach about it sometimes, and people speaks in tongues. Our services probably last longer than anybody in town haha and it would scare some who never been in Pentecostal church Im sure, although we have had several that came from other churches and was like they felt something there they never felt before.

It is a hard thing to explain especialy on a puter. But here is a thing I say, we serve a great big God and we so often try to put him in a box of understanding were we must understand everything he does. But his thoughts are greater than our thoughts and his ways are greater than our ways.

BTW the revival is awesome. I believe that in the atmosphere of a spiratual realm they are one last move begining to take place. And I have believed it is going to come largely in the area which we are in. And I believe this is what many call the last day revival. Im excited to be living in a time as this that the prophets could only write about.
