Harrison County Football Field Renovation

Featured Replies

It is part of a 5 million dollar upgrade at HCHS. It includes demolishing the existing home side of the stadium and the existing playing surface. The stadium will now seat 3,000 instead of the 1,800 it now holds. The field will also be the field turf that some Lexington schools are going to. The field will be big enough so that soccer will be able to use the hilltop field. The plan is to do the work after this season, meaning the football team may play all of their 2008 games on the road.

MUCH needed. Can't wait to see it!

Much needed is an understatement. One of the worst in Ky. Can't wait to see the new one.

Any renovations would and will be a huge improvement. However, MUCH is needed to improve the athletics at Harrison.

When you say athletics do you mean just football or all the sports?

Football definitely needs upgraded. 4A school--over 1,000+ students and will probably not be able to dress 50 kids. There's a problem somewhere. Enough said on that subject.

Boys basketball just recently changed hands. We'll see if an upgrade comes with it.

The only real staple regarding HCHS athletics has been the baseball program. However, their facilities are horrible. The BOE can't spell the word "support". It's really embarassing.

The football team has the benefit of being in a very weak district this year after years of the Jessamines and Lex. Cath. A couple of winning years and a few district championships may improve interest and numbers.

I think boys basketball will once again be a top tier team in the 10th with the benefit of a weak district.

Baseball will always be great in HC. As far as the facilities, the field, pressbox, new dugouts are great. The coaches and players really know how to take care of what they have. I would love to see a hitting facility for both the guys and softball girls but like you said, who knows if it will ever happen. I do think that the board is understanding the need since some folks around town finally suggesting its time to do it. Baseball put Harrison County on the map and I think they deserve it.
