Saw the Henry County/Williamstown game tonight. Williamstown is quick and can shoot the three. Henry had more players and was able to switch out more often.

 

With the rain this afternoon, the Ludlow gym wasn't so bad temperature wise. I bet yesterday was a bear!!!

I saw some of the Williamstown and Henry Co. game as well. Neither team never gave up. I also watched the Scott and Grant County game. Scott looked good last night. They definitely played as a team and got the win. Grant County is going to be tough this year. 24's mom, I saw you there last night. I always enjoy watching your daughter play.

As a W'town fan, the Henry Co./Williamstown game was like watching paint dry. Both teams played hard, but neither could get consistant scoring in the 2nd half.

 

Williamstown's second game was against St. Henry. W'town went scoreless for about the first 8 or 9 minutes, but took a lead at half time as St. Henry subbed alot. Williamstown only had 7 players last night, so there were always at least 2-3 starters on the floor at all times. Both teams played well in the second half. W'town had a 5 point lead with about a minute and a half left, but St. Henry hit their FT's (too many silly reaching fouls by Williamstown) and W'town missed 3 FT's in a row late to come out on the short end of the stick. Hopefully the team will learn from this.

As another BGP'r said, it was like watching paint dry on occasion...summer ball is like that sometimes isn't it! It is hard to not really get on them, but it is a time to try stuff out & see what needs work, etc etc. It is also a time that we have to remember a lot of these girls that are getting out there have not touched a ball in a while. I think the summer session is when you see who is serious (meaning who works in the off season) and who isn't!

 

Shsbballmom, sorry I didn't see you there! I am not exactly sure which girl is your's, so I may have walked up to the wrong person & embarassed myself! Thanks for remembering my kid...she is working through problems with her calves right now which causes her a tremendous amount of pain. You can tell she is having problems when she looks like she is playing with work boots on, she can't move her feet very well...that and she has no shot without her legs. Not a issue regarding playing or hurting herself more by playing. When she stops playing, the pain stops, but it is one that may require surgery if the conservative approach doesn't work. She was much happier last night as she had some results from icing between games & certain stretches she has to do and you won't see her wear long socks again, no compression allowed on her calves. She needs time for therapy to work, but that requires patience, which as we all know a 15yr old girl athlete doesn't have a whole lot of! The upcoming season is not in jeopardy. Soccer season maybe, but not basketball.

 

Scott has a lot to look forward to! I like seeing the tall girls they have coming in...lots of potential. Our post players were overwhelmed for a while. The aggressiveness from the pt guard is excellent.

 

Wmstown has improved. Wilhoit's daughter comes to mind, she works very hard. Attacks the rim. Love the Wmstown fans, always behind the team. Great group.

I think that Scott does have alot of potential this year. With the experience of their point guard, Benzinger and also Brown and Lauren Tibbs, hopefully, things will go well. 24's mom, I really don't think you would know me if you saw me, but I hope everything goes well with her calves. I did notice that she had the shorter socks on last night. Which one is the Williamstown coaches daughter, I was trying to figure it out last night. Is she a guard or a post player. Looking forward to watching the games the rest of the week.

I would have to also agrre with 24's Mom assessement of Scott. If they can getsome guard play, they will be dangerous.

 

Coach Wilhoit's daughter plays more of the 3 position. She is about 5'5" - 5'6" with blonde hair. Always wears knee pads and ankle braces. For her size, she is a good rebounder and slasher to the basket. That sometimes gets her in trouble.

Grant was impressive in a win over St. Henry yesterday. They also won over Henry Co. They are not consistent though. Never know what team is going to show up.

 

Saw Scott vs Ludlow also. Scott again showed a lot of promise, but could not hold on in the second half for the win. Missed a lot of putback shots in the paint. Guards were struggling a bit with the outside shot as well & seemed to be getting frustrated. Give Ludlow credit, came back from a pretty good deficit & was strong inside.

I was at the camps last night and saw Grant County play St. Henry. Definitely a good game for both teams, with Grant County coming out on top. Grant County played tough, and they are physical. 24's mom, your daughter did a good job last night. From what you have said previously, I know she is not a 100 percent, but she did a good job. Also, who is the blonde with the pony tail. She is a very pretty girl and is a post player. She is a tough player under the basket. Scott played very inconsistent last night. They looked really good the previous night against Grant County, but came out last night against Beechwood, and barely pulled out a win. The point guard, Benzinger, is struggling with back pain, so she is definitely not a 100 percent out on the floor.

Post player for Grant is a senior next season, Selena McIntosh. Benzinger for Scott did look frustrated in the Ludlow game, especially in the 2nd half.

Yes, Unfortunately, Benzinger does show her emotions out on the floor whether it be positive or negative. That is something that she should try to work on. Selena is a good player. Grant has alot to look forward to this season. I know Scott plays Grant sometime this season. As far as Williamstown, I know they beat Beechwood, but other than that, I am not sure.

Ludlow has shown me alot this summer without they been winning most of their games in the summer over some pretty decent teams like Holy Cross, Scott, etc. And they have been able to do all this without 2 starters...

I want to say that Coach Aaron Stamm, and assistants Mike Clary and Blake Clary have put together a GREAT CAMP. I have seen alot of the games and it has been very fun to watch, and its good experience for alot of these teams. I know they have a tournament set up for Friday at Ludlow for these teams that people should come out to watch!

I got to see Ludlow play at the Lady Raider shoot out at Trimble County and they really have some size on their team. I am not sure if they had all of their players at that time, but I thought they looked good.

Ludlow is a team to keep an eye on this season. If they can be consistent and FEED the post, look out! They beat Grant Co last night. It was a very late game, I was half asleep in the stands & IT WAS HOT in there. I think the heat had something to do with the loss Owen had to Wmstown as well in the game before. Wmstown is very scrappy & works very hard, but Owen did have to play back to back games. That is tough on any team, especially considering it is summer ball, conditioning isn't what it normally is in the regular season & and it is a gym with no air conditioning. Not so much the temperature yesterday, but the humidity seemed to be up & just sitting made you sweat. I think Grant Co also has a lot of potential for the upcoming season. If the team learns to crash the boards harder, they could be a formidable opponent. That it a pet peeve of mine in girls basketball. It is not unusual to see girls watch the shot go up instead of crashing & while watching the shot getting beat on the box out. Grant Co also played Beechwood last night and won.
