Has anyone seen Walton-Verona play this summer.?..They have not been to any of the shoot-outs we have been to.

 

I wonder how Hargett is doing, she is going to be tough this year.

24's mom. I definitely agree with you on Ludlow. I think they have a great coach, and a great program. I think they will do really well this year. And, yes the gym was toasty last night. Scott played last night and beat St. henry pretty good. Then 90 minutes later, they played Williamstown with the same girls playing, and looked like a totally different team. But, I definitely give credit to the girls of Williamstown and their coach. They played hard and won the game. I know Scott plays Williamstown again today, so hopefully, they will have their game faces on and ready to play. I have enjoyed watching the games this week, just wish it was a little cooler. But I am sure that they girls playing basketball out on the floor are a lot hotter than I am watching in the stands. I know that last year Walton Verona was out Ludlow's team camp, and if I remember right, they did pretty good. Not sure where they are this year. And, yes, I definitely agree that Lauren Hargett is going to be tough this year.

I think the heat had something to do with the loss Owen had to Wmstown as well in the game before. Wmstown is very scrappy & works very hard, but Owen did have to play back to back games. That is tough on any team, especially considering it is summer ball, conditioning isn't what it normally is in the regular season & and it is a gym with no air conditioning [Quote}.

 

Both teams played hard, but Owen was missing 2-3 players, most notable their point guard. The game was also pretty physical with. Playing back to back took some of Owen Co. legs also, but give W'town credit. They played well. Wilhoit played real well for them. She plays with so much energy. 24's Mom stated about rebounding, Wilhoit seems to have a knack for the ball. She does a good job getting into position for the rebound. Unfortunately, a lot of the girls don't do this. It will be intersting to see what happens in the regular season between Owen and Williamstown.

Williamstown did pull out a win, but Scott was without their Sr. post player. Scott can be a dangerous team during the regular season. They have a nice point guard and 2 nice post players. If their guard play continues to improve and their freshman post player gets more comfortable playing varsity minutes, they will have a nice year.

Walton has not scheduled to play in any of the local camps. Someone said there seems to be little interest. They are going to play in a tournament at Sports of All Sorts this weekend. I watched Hargett plaly at the N. Ky. Junior All-star game at Thomas More. At times she played very well. She doesn't seem to play strong D. From what I understand Walton will live or die on how well she plays.

 

Scott Sr. Post (KiKi) took a well deserved night game off and she will be back at it tonight. The Scott team has moments of brillance and then make you wonder who that is on the floor. There were shades of them jelling at the end of last year and it looks like they are continuing the process. However, they still have some room to go. I like their chances this year, the important part is that they stay focused as a TEAM and keep their eyes on the prize.

But, hopefully, they will jell, and when the season starts, be ready to play. I think this could definitely be a good year for them. They have good post players, and a good point guard. I know I am looking forward to watching them play this basketball season.

Grant County won the camps final day of tournament play after defeating Owen Co, Henry Co & then Ludlow in the finals last night. 3 games in one night & the last 2 were back to back. Ludlow did a great job this week hosting the camp, thanks for a good week of basketball!

Congratualtions to Coach Stamm for running a great camp. Alot of good basketball was played over the week.

 

Also, congrats to Grant Co. They still play the outstanding defense that Coach Richey instilled in them the past couple of years. Once their offense starts to click, they can a very successful season.

I would agree they played well and it was a good camp. I didnt know Richey was a defensive coach.
