Good news for Ryle's Garrett Wagner, he of the .487 batting average, as he has chosen to attend NKU and play baseball.

 

Darn good player. After watching him play, I'd have him on my team in a second.

 

Congrats to him and best wishes at my alma mater.

Wonder why he would not have been offered a scholarship there in the first place?

Not a sure thing yet guys, Todd hasn't accepted. Just happens to be the school he chose for their Marketing program and he hopes to walk on.

 

Would be icing on the cake for Garrett if he does get an opportunity to play ball there. That is if they need a middle infielder. Or a kid willing to learn to play the outfield.

 

He has applied and been accepted though.

I can't imagine Todd passing on a kid who had a great varsity career and who is not going to cost the program any scholarship money (oh, and a .487 hitter).

Might be because he is not a 6'5' lefty that throws in the upper 80's.

 

D1 and D2 colleges only get 11.5 scholarships to offer and usually wind up splitting them up. You have to get the pitchers and catchers first.

It also sounds like he wanted to stay in the area. After watching him play this year I believe there would be alot of schools across the Midwest that would love to have him.

I do know that NKU graduated a SS but Pat Muth, who saw time at SS/2B will be a soph and had a great Fresh yr. Always room for a hitter!
