How much do they have to pay UC to use the field?

 

I haven't seen a figure. If they could UC should keep it as low as possible because think of how many potential college students that is everytime students step on that campus.

 

I know Thomas More wants to try the same thing if they get their new turf field up and running.

There will be four D1 talent laden teams playing against Moeller at Nippert. Detroit Brother Rice, Lakewood St Edwards, LaSalle and Cincy St X...

Oops. I read it wrong. UC will do a lot better than the recent past in attendance this year. They are finally running some aggressive season ticket and single game promotions that have actually caught on. Plus with WVU and UL at Nippert you can count on the extras being sold. So looking back you were right on both points if Grutza doesn't make a big jump or if Mauck isn't what is expected...

I think UC's headed in the right direction with their program. I figured they'd have a hard time matching Moeller's wins but should bring in more fans. That said, next year their home schedule won't be so daunting and they should have more wins and I think their attendance will continue to improve. Nippert is a cool place to watch a game.

No, its been awhile. Back in the mid-late 90's I dated a girl from Bellevue and we used to go to some UC games, I know the area could get a little bit rough but I liked going to the games and Bogarts. I also liked tailgating at BW3's (it wasn't Buffalo Wild Wings then and they weren't that easy to find) with the goths and punks. I've heard nothing but good things about the improvements though.

Actually, I'll probably be up there this summer some time. I'll be sure to take you up on that--I love Cincy. I'm a UK-Red Sox-Browns-Celtics fan at heart but I grew up in Somerset so I've spent a great deal of time up there and have a soft spot in my heart for UC-The Reds-(even the Bengals but I'll deny this under direct interrogation). As a town I love it. We used to go up to a Reds game and walk over to Caddy's and Flanagan's. We ever saw Alanis Morissette at Caddy's one night. Anyway, I think we're going to take a "guys trip" this summer (I'm the only one not currently married) for old times sake so you may have to be our tour guide. We'll buy the beers:thumb:

I can understand that--Congrats by the way!!! Even if I miss you on the first trip I think we're going to go to a Bengals game too so we can all get out then. Although my son and I may have to come up for a UC game to check out the stadium.

Going back to the 70's Moeller has had arrangements to use the following facilities as their de facto home field: Sycamore HS, College Football HOF at Kings Island, Lockland and now Nippert. Probably because of the lack of a true home field, Moeller has never drawn the kind of crowds most would expect of a program of their stature on a weekly basis. Even when they played league rivals they were outnumbered in the stands by the others schools; Elder, X and LaSalle.

 

UC's campus has undergone a tremendous rebuilding over the last 15-20 years. They have new classrooms and lab buildings, new student center and bookstore, new basketball arena, twice renovated Nippert Stadium, new baseball, tennis, track and field and soccer facilities, and new training complex that rivals anyone. Parking is still a problem for large crowds, but adequate if you don't mind a longer walk than most high schools have.

 

The Bearcast won 8 games last year including a bowl game. This year they return more than half of their 22 starters, and have a very good prospectus for 07. With the new coach alone there will be increased ticket sales for the Bearcats. Being the Big East which won over many fans last year with several high profile national games, and 5 for 5 in bowl games as a league, will help also. Coach Kelly is a dynamic coach who is working hard to build the program's visibility and fan support.

 

Big Moe will not draw anywhere near what the Bearcats will. That's not a bold prediction at all considering the comparison between NCAA D1 and high school. Here's hoping that Moeller is successful at Nippert, and UC can capitalize on the recruiting aspects of such an arrangement with Moeller, Herbstriet, playoffs and more.
