I agree with you there, maybe at Minnesota it will be easier for him to find kids that are under the radar. Since Kentucky has such a wealth of talent at the high school level, there is no way ALL OF THEM can stay and play here.

 

That is not true at all, Kentucky for most of Tubby's tenure was very short of talent at the high school level....

 

At this particular time though however we are starting to see some more talent in the state of ky again...

Don't have a list, BUT of all the articles I read Tubby was very picky, if not TOO picky in the players he wanted. He wanted players that would stay for 4 years and not bolt, the phrase "diamond in the rough" has come up several times in articles in players he looked for.

 

So he likely missed MORE than a few homegrown kids because he was being TOO picky. Again I'm not a Tubby basher, I'm not even a Tubby supporter. I just found that line in the article interesting.

 

The line in the article was talking about how Tubby needed to persuade the kids to stay in state and play for him...That was not the problem when he was here at UK. Usually if Tubby really wanted a kid in the state of Ky he would get them, the thing is he usually just didn't try to get the kids in Ky...And well there hasn't been many players besides Lofton that would have made much of a difference anyways in are success the last few years...

Obviously it's impossible to know for sure, but I think that the feelings of many of the Mason County faithful would have swayed him somewhere else. So many of them felt abandoned by Tubby & UK because of their interest (or lack thereof) in Chris Lofton.

Because he doesn't like OTS and it fits his argument. I am with you. Noone knows.

But in all fairness to Tubby "not saying I disagree with you" but didn't Louisville pass Lofton up also and Im pretty sure Pitino is high on his list.

And I think recruiting was Tubby's biggest downfall but it wasn't hsi lack of in state recruiting that hurt them. It was the caft that he would just sell out and have no backup, if I was at Kentucky I wouldnt recruit in state that much, fact is talent is better elsewere. I would have probably passed on Lofton to with the class I had comming in. Lofton really took off big time after high school.

Lofton chose Tennessee and the rest is history. Tubby will probably get those guys. He will offer them starting spots on a depleted team.
