CCH 6 Scott 4

Featured Replies

Scott leads for most of the game but CCH regains it in the 6th inning and adds an insurance runin the top of the 7th. Great game by both teams. When a team drove in a run or had a big play, the other team came right back at them.

Scott falls to 7-8 but don't be fooled by that record. Here are some of the pitchers they have faced in those losses:

Nathan Mutsch

Matt Nichols

Josh Bleser

??? Weis (lefty from Ryle, more info?)

Scott has faced alot of #1s from teams this year and it will only make them better as they head to the post season.

Who pitched for CCH?

I believe his last name was Smith who pitched for CCH. Sainola came in relief and then yet another reliever came in after him (I don't know his name or number).

For Scott Matt Ross got the start and Taylor Smith came in for relief.

How did the young man (Sainola) do? I believe this is his first time on the mound for the CovCath Varsity this season.

Sainola did alright and I believe only let in 1 run. However, he did have trouble with his location walking at least 4 batters (not sure on exact number)

From what I have been told about the young lefty, he comes with some heat, but has trouble with his location. Thanks.....

At times yes he did show those flashes of heat. Since he is only a sophomore he will have time to take care of those control problems and I'm sure Krumps will be helping him get to where he needs to be as well.

Ross for Scott stepped up tonight for the eagles.... he kepted them in the ball game and deserved the win, walks killed him, as i think most of the runners scored that were walked, but he pitched more than good enough to win, who knows, the eagles come through in the six when they have no outs and runners on first and second, he gets the win against one of the top 2-3 teams in the ninth, Ross stepped up for the Home team tonight and desreved a win.

Smith, Sainola, and Niehaus were the CovCath pitchers.

When did Sainola move up to Varsity? And Why?

My guess is that Cov. Cath is short on pitching due to their hectic last 8-9 days, and were just going to throw people to get by this game, I don't know if Smith pitches on a regular basis, but if i were to guess he doesn't. Add that with the fact that Cov. Cath has a huge weekend and will need all their top arms to be ready, Now im not close to the situation, but IMO this is why we saw Sainola. He pitched well enough tonight to get the win, but his control could be a big problem down the road if he doesn't work on it.

Smith pitches regularly, this was his worst outing of the year.

Also I don't believe Coach Krumps was very happy with his team losing two in a row and he probably wanted to bring up a JV player to keep them from getting complacent.

From what the Post stat line showed, he also changed the lineup quite a bit also.....

covington catholic 6, scott 4, - Senior catcher Connor Larkin scored the go-ahead run on sophomore third baseman Luke Maile's single in the sixth inning.

The Colonels tied the score in the fifth inning on an RBI single by sophomore first baseman Ryan Darner.

COVCATH.... 0 2 0 1 1 1 1 - 6 9 1

SCOTT........ 0 0 3 1 0 0 0 - 4 6 1

Actually it was Catcher Connor Larkin and Second Basemen Luke Maile. Krumps wanted to give Luke a break after a long week and a big weekend ahead. And Darner was DH in this game. Who is doing an excellent job of putting the ball in play and putting the ball on the ground.

The Colonels have a big weekend ahead of them playing Danville, Owensboro Catholic, and Ballard, who are all in the top 10 in the most recent State Polls.

Also Josh Bleser played 1st Base not Ryan Darner. Post Stat line was wrong about that along with Luke Maile playing 2nd Base.
