Williamsburg 6 Middlesboro 5 (9 innings)

Featured Replies

Witt and Shelley combined to get the Jackets the win. While Pittman and Hoskins would go the the other Jackets. This was one great game to watch!

Yes it was the first round of the All "A". Williamsburg fought back hard with clutch hitting and pitching. Witt and Shelley pitched well, Root behind the plate called a great game as the Middlesboro Jackets were off balance at the plate most of the night. Clutch Hit by Freshman Ryan Moses in the 9th to plate Will Moses for the win. Team is getting good senior leadership from Witt and Root. Root definitely brings his football intensity and toughness to the diamond.

A great win for Williamsburg, hopefully they can make another trip to Applebees for the All-A state.

I'm sure this one shocks the M'boro faithful though.

Yeah you can sure say that again..i had high hopes for M'boro this year...after this year almost all the starters are gone..something is wrong an i dont think its the players fault

I love it! If they win, the kids did a great job. If they lose, the coaches are doing a horrible job. That seems to be Middlesboro athletics in a nutshell.

You can love it all you want ..my son wont be playing for them anymore..They lost a gem probaly one of top 16 year olds in the state..my son has left his heart on mound plently times..pitched all is life for M,boro and gets no respect..hes a all around athlete...but the coaches dont seem to care

Actually that is athletics in a nutshell. Players win games, coaches lose games. And if you were on the inside of this Middlesboro baseball program, you would know exactly what the poster is talking about. They are officially team turmoil.

No leadership and No direction. Do you think at some point this season the Head coach might realize that he's the only one in the 13th region that doesn't know middlesboro can't hit a curve ball? And that maybe he might try and work on that before he runs off the field at 5pm? Or maybe that if you ask for 110 percent from players you better be ready to give it yourself. If the HC and the AC would spend as much time on practice planning/game planning as they do on giving speeches m'boro would be undefeated.

Somewhere the Mboro AD is laughing. Thinking about that special day when M'boro baseball can't even get 9 people to come out and he can finally fire up the bulldozer and flatten out the baseball field. And finally put in that indoor practice facility they've been building for the last 4 years.

okay off the soapbox

Congratulations to the Williamsburg team. You've got a gritty team and I hope you guys make it to applebees. GOOD LUCK!!

Hope that it works out for your son so that he continues playing.

Good win for Williamsburg. I thought that Middlseboro was the favorite in the 13th All A.

In the pre-season people were saying Middlesboro & S. Laurel and N. Laurel were favorites to win the 13th. They all have losing records right now, has anybody surfaced as a favorite or are these the 3 teams still to beat & just having a ruff stretch right now?

I'm kind of surprised that Middlesboro is not having a great season. I assume that this group still has basicly the same bunch of kids that won the State Senior League Tournament a couple of years ago and went on to coming very close to reaching the World Series. Is this group still all intact?

I wouldn't lose faith in South or Middlesboro just yet. Corbin is showing that it is one of the top contenders. A loss to Williamsburg is not a bad loss. Witt and Shelley are good pitchers.

Don't count out the Boro. They always come back from Florida used to mid-80's pitching and seem to have a hard time adjusting to the much slower local arms. Happens every year. And the Coaching Staff is still searching for the best defensive lineup, with injuries playing a role. They'll be ready for the Playoffs.

Also on the plus side, this bunch seems to have more power at the plate than any Jacket team in recent memory. I've only been to two games, but there were more extra-base hits than singles in both of them. 8 different players have homered so far (13 total dingers through 11 games). I think they're going to be fine, and so is SL. Don't know much about North.
