What church do you attend if you don't mind me asking? My father in law is a Methodist minister and had a church in Ashland about 8 or 10 years ago.

WR-I attend Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church.

I feel that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a female pastor. If she can save lives through the Word of the Lord then she is doing what is expected of all of us. As far as a woman not teaching a man? How many men that have posted had female Sunday school teachers? That isn't to be taken as a sarcastic remark but a true question. I know that most of the church's that I have belonged to had women as the Sunday school teachers. Mothers have been teaching their sons for ages about the Bible and what His Word is all about. IMO, that is another one of those passages in the Bible that was not meant to be taken quite so literally. But, that's just my two cents worth...

 

 

Two very valuable cents, I must say.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other. I know that God gives gifts to His servants to equip the saints for good works and that He gifts men and women to help equip His church. Beth Moore is a great example - she is one of the most gifted teachers of scripture that I have ever heard or read. She does not pastor a church but she does teach a large class at her home church and she ministers to men and women at her conferences. I watch her every chance I get and have read her book, "Why godly people to ungodly things." Her ministry is profound and reaches men and women, equipping them to serve. My wife has done several of her studies and has been transformed by her teachings. God created them (man and woman) in His image - we are reflections of who He is. To me the main question is do you know your spiritual gift and are you excercising it for the glory of God?

We are also Beth Moore fans. My wife listens to her daily on the radio and has several books. She is not a Pastor of a church but is called to serve the same way Mary, Priscilla, Dorcus, Phobe, and others were used Esther Deborah, Rahab, Sarah, Hannah, and Ruth from the OT come to mind. These women all have made their mark in serving the Gospel.

Have you read any of Orson Scott Card's Women of the Bible series? He's a great SF novelist that wrote novels on Sarah, Rebekah, Rachael and Leah. Fictional, but nice perspective and very interesting.

Another touchy subject. Im a preacher now (man) and I was saved under a woman preaching. So it is hard for me to say no because one had the words to say to get to my heart and really impacted my life.

I dont agree with women pastoring though, that is taking way to much athority over man in my view.
