We are now 8 weeks from the May Kentucky primaries. In this thread, you will poll your primary choice, and you will cite your reasoning for the choice in the thread. If you are "Undecided," describe what issues you want to hear about from the candidates before you vote.

This thread is for Kentucky's Governor/Lt. Governor.

Primary I would have to vote Democrat but don't really like any of the candidates. So I will go with the least likely to win the general and support the Republican candidate.

Good "strateegery." Who do you think is the least viable Dem candidate that has a viable chance of winning the primary?

As I have mentioned previously, I will support Anne Northup. I don't feel Governor Fletcher can win the general election; I am disappointed that Governor Fletcher will not back off of the atrocities contained in the old Tax Modernization legislation; and I believe Anne will be effective at garnering federal money for this state for economic development during a critical period.

Interestingly, I have met Gatewood and watched him practice. He is an extremely competent lawyer and advocate, and a nice fellow. He has kind of been pegged with this marijuana issue, but that overshadows his very real intelligence and energy.

But prevents him from being electable.

He's also not electable in the primary. If you're smart, you'll vote for a candidate that might win a primary, but lose in the general.

I'm undecided at this point. I have a list I won't support, though.

Who's on it and why?

The only tv campaign ads in Lexington I've seen are for Lunsford/Stumbo. I don't know anymore about him that what I've seen in those ads, but he seems at least semi-competent.

I like Lunsford, too bad he has a bad running mate.

For me at this point it would be Beshear/Mongiardo. As far as Lunsford/Stumbo-Lunsford screwed the democrats last time out when he threw his support to Fletcher when he withdrew. Fool me once.

I like Jonathan Miller's alleged willingness to tackle KERA, and I know Irv Maze has been a highly competent Jefferson County Attorney.

Richards is a solid candidate. great morals, leadership ability and willingness to address problems. You don't maintain the Speaker of the House job for 12 years wwithout some integrity. John Y Brown III is a great running mate.
