Not quite true Pitino couldn't win it the year before with almost the same exact players that is the most rediculous statement that could be made. Pitino would have lost in 98 too!!!!! He would not leave his man to man defense in his last few years and Duke would have beaten UK had Pitino coached in 98. The reason I believe this is because when the game got to the line Tubby played the zone and exploited the Duke long range weakness that year. Pitino would never had done it and would have gotten beat IMO.

I agree, but that is a BIG if there you are talking about. That is why fans were so unhappy. One more final four and Tubby really would've been here as long as he wanted.

See this is what I dont get at all. So your saying if we did win that double overtime game against Michigan State, then lost to that loaded UNC team. Then done what we have the last two years, that you all wouldn't care about Tubby being here?? And well I would say bull on that, because all these same people would be wanting him gone, but since he didn't get to that final four it just actually gave alot of you all a little something to use to argue why he should be gone. If he made that final four or not, it still wouldn't have matter, alot of the same people still would have wanted him gone, and in the end he still might not be here, because as he said in that press conference apparently he wanted to be wanted, and he wouldn't have been here by some of you all still even if he had won that just one more game and got to the final four...

Not to mention there was that EXACT same Arizona team that beat Pitino in the finals, and Pitino had a better team in 97 than Tubby did in 98...

To have had that record, he would've had to win the 2OT game, AND have gotten to the Elite 8 TWO times that he didn't.
