March 15, 200719 yr North Carolina (the 2nd winningest program) and Kansas (Rupp's alma mater) are #1 seeds while we,through the grace of God (and the NCAA selection committee) are an 8 seed..Not to mention that UCLA,after years of mediocrity could very well win it all????????

They haven't won a title in almost 20 years, with their only other legit title coming 36 years before that. These things go in cycles. A lot of these same threads would have been on BGP from 1985 to 1991 if it had existed. UNC got back on top and so can UK.

March 15, 200719 yr Author I guess the point I am trying to make is.......their programs are improving (as in UCLA's RU last yr,NC's Championship 2 yrs ago and Kansas with a GREAT shot this year..while we.........well...........get another 8 seed!!

A very good point...but in each case,changes were made....Even I realize that you cannot win the championship EVERY year...But..at least an Elite 8 in 10 years would give hope!!! You cannot expect an elite eight from an 8 seed 1 time in 20!!!!
March 15, 200719 yr I guess it depends on how you define improvement. UNC won a title two years ago. Last year they did not. Technically they got worse. As long as they don't lose to a Colonial team in the 2nd round I guess we can say they improved again.

They have to bring in at least one or two kids every year that have a solid shot at playing in the NBA someday. That's what it takes to make it to the FF or win the championship. And they are not getting that done lately. That is unacceptable imo. Not signing target players, and mis-evaluating of others, has killed them in the past few years. A Brandon Wright player on this year's team is the difference in being 21-11 right now, and being 27-5. That's how important recruiting is.
