Corbin 55 Pineville 50

Featured Replies

I hate to see Pineville lose, I thought they was going to pull this one out...

Great Season for Pineville

Leading scorers were Crawford with 24 for Corbin and Strange with 15 for Pineville.

Crawford had 24, Barley and Johnson 8.

Day had 16 and Strange had 15.

Corbin hit only 3-of-18 from 3-land and Pineville 2-of-12.

For the game: Corbin 21-of-53 and Pineville 19-of-50

Craford was clutch at the line 8-8 from da line and 4-of-4 in the fourth quarter.

Big win for da hounds.

Good win for the Hounds!

Has anyone noticed that Crawford's leaping and free throw shooting has improved greatly since he's not been wearing the knee brace? There were two or three times he could have tore the rim down if he wanted to.

how was both teams at the foul line??

To the best of my recollection, Corbin was 10-11 from the line. I can't remember Pineville's stats, I believe that Pineville shot a few more FT's, but also missed several more.

Pineville's run started in the second half against Corbin earlier in the year and ended with Corbin tonight. Pineville came out and controlled the game up untill mid 3rd quarter. I don't know if depth got to them or what, but Corbin did a good job of not getting rattled when they were down early. But this game makes you look forward to next year because if both teams improve like they should and get good draws these two teams could meet each other in the regional championship next year. Corbin has a good team and the best of luck to them as they try to defend their homecourt and win region and congratulations to Pineville on everything they accomplished. They could've laid down when they were 5-9 but they battled back and finished 16-12 with a district title, and the credit has to go to J.D. Strange because he refocused his kids and put the fight back in them.

I look forward to these two teams next season. They will be impressive to say the least. My only gripe tonight was how Corbin got too conservative with about 4 minutes to go. They jumped out to an 8 point lead and clearly had all of the momentum. They went into stall mode and Pineville cut it back to 2. If Corbin would have kept attacking until about 1:30 left, that lead probably could have jumped up to about 16 because Pineville was winded. That stall ball gave the Mt. Lions a second wind. Hats off to Coach Strange and his team because there wasnt one ounce of quit in them.

Pineville's lack of depth seemed to hurt them. Day obviously go tired in the 2nd half and was not able to work as hard to get the ball as he did earlier in the game. Crawford getting the defensive board and then leading the break gave Corbin a little margin to work with, but Pineville just kept fighting and just never could get back over the hump and take the lead.

Pineville really improved from the Cumberland Falls Invt. earlier in the year and should be poised to make a run for the regional title next year. Good season for the Mt. Lions and they had a great crowd tonight.:thumb:

From my point of view it seemed like Pineville changed their gameplan in the second half. In the first half they tried to work the ball inside a lot more than they did in the second. When Corbin got number 11 to pick up is fourth foul it seemed like the drive in Pineville just went out of the team when he had to go to the bench.

#11 is James Strange, J.D.'s kid. He has alot of talent, good leadership skills, and is irreplaceable on the court. Him going out changed the game completely for Pineville. With just two ball handlers on the floor Corbin felt comfortable turning up the pressure on Pineville, and it worked. I would assume increasing their depth is a Pineville offseason goal and that should make them a hard team to handle next year.

Pineville has a nice team. Pineville has a great coach. It is a feel good story to see a Coach takeover a strugglin class A program and lead them to the elite of the region. Folks in Pineville should treat Coach Strange with the utmost respect and keep him around as long as he wants to roam the sidelines. Corbin played tight and the officals called a much tighter game than the 13th region does. Pineville got rattled when Strange went out and if he had not swung the elbow he might have led his team to victory. Crawford is a beast and was very good for the Hounds tonight. Corbin must play alot better to play with Bell County in ths semi's. Two very good young teams on the court tonight. The coaching wheels seemed to be turning on both sides. I really enjoyed this matchup and will eagerly await next season when both teams will again be two of the better squads.
