March 4, 200719 yr Congratulations to the KCU Lady Knights for just winning the NCCAA Women's Basketball National Championship by a score of 75-63 a few minutes ago.
March 4, 200719 yr What division are they competing in? I or II? NCCAA II. They have now won it all in the following years: '89, '95, '96, '97, '98, '00, '03, '04, '05 and finally '07.
March 4, 200719 yr Great to see the ladies win another title. And to Coach Ron Arnett, wow, what a class act. And now, TEN national championships. I can only think of one other college coach off hand that has that many, John Wooden. A lot of players on the team from the 16th region too so that is a great testimony to the talent that comes out of this region. Way to go KCU !!!

I knew the boys team had won several titles, but I didn't know the girls were so successful. What girls from the 16th region play for the Lady Knights?
March 4, 200719 yr They have Baldwin from East Carter, Daniels from Russell, Roberts from Lawrence County, Clark and Hughes from Lewis County, Swann from Boyd County (I am pretty sure, not positive) and I may have missed a couple. Like I said, awesome testimony to the talent level of the girls from this region that they can get together and contribute to a national title.

I believe that Daniels from Russell was either their first or second leading scorer this year.

Congrats to the KCU womens baskletball team!:dancingpa Also, a former Raceland player (Vanderhoof) was unable to continue play at KCU due to a back injury. (may not pertain to this but I just thought that I would give Miss Vanderhoof some due) It is absolutely great to see local kids get a chance at the next level. The 16th region has some VERY good girls b.b. talent.:thumb: I am also looking foward to track the progress of several local kids that have signed for the new KCU football team.
March 4, 200719 yr Miss Vanderhoof is a class young lady who would have been a major contributor if not for the injury. Glad to see that you threw her name out there, she had a great high school career.
March 4, 200719 yr That is great news. I knew the boys team had won several titles, but I didn't know the girls were so successful. What girls from the 16th region play for the Lady Knights? The quietest KY basketball dynasty in the state. Doesn't get the recognition they deserve.

And let's not forget the most important thing................... They do it while being great witnesses for Jesus Christ.
