March 2, 200719 yr I don't care who comes along in the future, but NOBODY but Happy Chandler should be singing "My Old Kentucky Home" at the UK Senior Days. NOBODY!!!! This version brings a tear to my eye everytime I listen/watch it. :cry: :cry: :cry: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: This is one thing that I think all U.K. fans can agree on. I really think that they should play a recording/video of "Happy" singing it on all senior days instead of having someone else sing it every year. I echo that NOBODY but Happy should be the voice on this.

March 2, 200719 yr Happy Chandler singing "My Old Kentucky Home" on senior day is a classic. No one can come close to the emotion that he generates when he would sing on Senior day. The tears flow every time I hear it. Great thread:thumb:

And you think if Happy was just some random old dude and not a politician they would have let him sing it? I have never heard of them letting any other non-politician old dude sing it...
March 2, 200719 yr I know exactly who Happy was, and aside from being a politician, he was a Kentucky son inside and out, and a great ambassador for the state and for UK. But it doesn't matter to me if he was a farmer from Fishtrap. His heartfelt rendition stirs something in me and it is obvious it does with other UK fans. Of course, you have a right to your opinion, and I'll concede that 23,000 strong is a moving and glorious moment. So I'll just throw out that silly old notion I had that the fact that he was a Democrat was a paramount to your objection of him.
