Tilghman is coming off a game against Calloway County in which they only ran 23 total plays in the game and scored 7 touchdowns. Qb Xavier Isable was 5/9 for 110 yds and 4 td's and they had 12 rushes for 180 yards. Christian County is coming off a close loss to Somerset 13-7 in a game they couldn't really get the offense in sync.

Christian County will bring their 164.3 team rushing yards a game to the table as maybe a means to use a little clock. They hand it off 27 times a game.

Jaylen Ray for Christian is their big play guy in the passing game hauling in each catch at a rate of 21.4 yards.

Christian County will have their work cut out for sure, but a couple examples of if things go right for them, they have had some moments this season where they competed. Even in a loss to powerhouse Frederick Douglass, that game was 21-0 in the 4th quarter before Douglass ultimately won by 28. Yeah, I know, maybe it seems like a reach even mentioning that, but they held tough in that game for a substantial amount of time against a superior opponent. They obviously weren't going to win, but showed a good effort on their part to keep it as close as they could. We all know how some of these high school games get at times against top tier competition. They held an explosive McCracken team to their worst point total of the year and actually won that game holding them scoreless in the first half, no easy feat.

Now that I've given a reason or two to why they possibly could play a closer game, I'll give you one that could make it a little more lopsided. Tilghman has an average margin of victory of 36.2 points for the season and have played some teams who generally score a lot of points and pretty well shut them down. Hold Tilghman's offense down to a less than normal performance and the defense is what we knew it would be going into the season, and they more than held their end of the bargain.

They flat get after you and that allows Coach Thompson to go for it on a lot of 4th downs and make calls you don't see as much. He trusts his defense enough that he can make video game calls at times during real games. Tilghman, although known to be a passing team, can shred you up on the ground as well as they have a powerful offensive line and two more than capable backs who carry the load. Tough to defend.

So what do we have when all is said and done?

Can Christian County muster up enough effort to play a respectable game and end their season on a trending in the right direction note, or does this one possibly get out of hand? Do we get the better version of themselves they have showed flashes of or is Tilghman's versatile offense too much to handle?

I said a few weeks ago that I think this will be Tilghman’s only game before round 3 of the playoffs that a team could at least challenge them for a quarter or two.

Christian County’s defense has been playing well, and they are one of the few teams that can matchup defensively athlete for athlete with Tilghman. But the Tigers offense has completely been out of rhythm for the last few weeks. That will eventually spell disaster for them against this Tilghman squad who will punish you for offensive mistakes.

The schedule for Christian County was staggering for a first year program. It will pay off in the long run. Respect to them for not scheduling cupcakes like a lot of teams do.

This Tilghman team needs this game to secure the #1 spot in the 4A RPI. That’s going to be motivation enough. I think maybe the Tigers can keep it close for a quarter, but unless they get their offense on track then PT will run away with it after that.
