Once Mayfield shook off the “post fall break lag” they took off. Let’s give credit to a Trigg County Wildcat team that came into War Memorial with some fight in them. Edison and Calhoun ran the ball hard and tough.

No one on the Wildcat defense had an answer for Anderson Smith. The junior wide receiver had FOUR touchdown receptions, and two of them were flat out amazing!

Now its Fort Campbell’s turn to try and slow him down. The Falcons are struggling, and this game will not provide many answers for them. This should be a running clock win for the Cardinals. Anyone else see it differently?

You and I both mentioned the fall break lag and I have to say, that's definitely a real thing. It wasn't just Tilghman and Mayfield, I saw a lot of comments on a lot of games about the teams who had that week off. It definitely makes a difference. Practice time really does matter to stay sharp.

As I mentioned earlier, Anderson Smith had a great game. Turns out he had a record setting game as he had 289 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. Both of those are Mayfield Cardinal records. 🥳

Ok, sorry about that, back to the Fort Campbell game. 😁

The video stopped for me.

7-0 Cards.

Looks like Red Helmet Sports lost this stream.

The entire stadium was having technical issues…the clock was glitching the entire night. The game took an hour and a half as the Falcons asked for 6 minute quarters in the second half. Now we get ready to travel to Louisville to take on Central.

Fort Campbell had 16 yards rushing for the game. Josiah England had 149 yards rushing by himself, and that was on 5 carries for the Cardinals. Unusual game as the running clock started after Mayfield scored their third touchdown. I do not remember ever seeing something like that happen before.

The disparity between good teams and not-so-good teams is as well defined as I have seen. I know that our district is not the only one experiencing this (see Beechwood). The main issue being the negative impact on seeding for the playoffs.
