🗞 The Fur Will Fly As Cougars And Wildcats Meet In Russellville

Franklin-Simpson 🔵⚪️ (2-5) | They're down, but are they out? The tradition rich Wildcats are nursing a three game losing streak, including a three score loss to Calloway County, a team Logan smoked a week earlier. F-S has allowed 30+ points in four of its last five games.

Logan County 🐾 (5-2, 4A #7) | A feisty Cougars offense was tamed by Tilghman in its last outing. They'll look to regain the form that scored 40+ in their first six games and sink their claws deeper into the district. The return of quarterback Luke Rogers allows star Christian Helle to slide back into his normal role, chewing up ground as one of top running backs in WKY.

✏️ 📖 | Franklin-Simpson owned the series before Logan swung the momentum in its favor, winning the last three. The Cougars rode Helle's 266 yards and four touchdowns to a 63-27 win last year.

This game will be a hard fought one for sure. These two teams battle in every sport it seems. I do look for Logan to score at will in this game though!

Logan County in this one.

FS leads 6-0 with about 1:30 to go in the first. Wildcats took over 9 minutes and scored on 4th and goal but mishandled the extra point snap.

Cougars with a long kick return but penalties hinder their drive and their 31 yard field goal attempt goes straight into the line. FS takes over at their own 23.

FS punts and LC will start at the FS 38. FS leads 6-0 at 8:26 in the second quarter.

Cougars with a 34 yard TD pass. Cougars lead 7-6 at 7:08 in second.

FS punts to LC 21.

1 yard TD run for LC they lead 14-6 at 1:29 in second.

FS throws a pick and LC has time to score again

Cougars score just before the half and lead 21-6.

Logan County 34-6 after three.

Final score Logan County wins 40-19.

Franklin-Simpson will miss the playoffs for the first time in about 35 years.

1992 was last time Franklin-Simpson didn’t go to postseason. It’s the only time they’ve missed since the expansion to four teams advancing from each district. They’ll face Allen County-Scottsville needing a win to avoid their first winless district slate since 1959.
