No Politics Policy

Any mention, discussion, and media regarding politics or political figures is expressly prohibited on BluegrassPreps. This includes, but is not limited to the mention or names of any elected or publicly appointed officials, both domestic and foreign, by name, title, or by the offices held (e.g. - president, POTUS, governor, chancellor, mayor, council, minister, senator, congressman, commissioner, attorney general, county clerk, magistrate, lawmaker, whip, Beshear, Clinton, Lincoln, Merkel, Obama, Putin, Reagan, Roosevelt, Trudeau, Trump, etc.). Any direct references or inferences to political terminology and activities, (e.g. - politics, political, government, governance, Democrat, Republican, GOP, White House, Capitol, General Assembly, Commonwealth, Frankfort, DC, Washington, State, conservative, liberal, campaign, lobby, lobbyist, donor, bureaucrat, bureaucratic, bureaucracy, legislature, legislation, legislate, legislative process, legislative intent, elect, election, state, vote, voter, bill, House Bill (HBxxx), Senate Bill (SBxxx), partisan, precinct, non-partisan, veto, pollster, referendum, RNC, DNC, amendment, committee, Congress, filibuster, caucus, etc.) and anything else deemed political in nature by the BGP staff is also prohibited from the site. Likewise, this also includes 3rd party links to articles that are political in name or in nature. Additionally, the use of names/nicknames deemed by the BGP staff as references to political figures (e.g. - Andy, Donald, Tricky Dick, Slick Willy) will not be permitted on BluegrassPreps.

Keeping in mind BGP's core purpose as a sports-discussion community, discussion of the the managing bodies specifically serving over high school, college, amateur, and professional sports leagues (KHSAA, NCAA, IOC, MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL et al), along with the officers, officials and the titles held by the individuals within those organizations is permitted on BGP. Similarly, high school and college/university administrators and officials, when discussed in a strictly non-political manner, are all permissible on BGP.

I would love to see just as much research done on soccer and other sports to see what that data looks like. It seems like the majority of CTE studies focus on football, but it's very possible that soccer players who have played the sport for most of their lives could also develop CTE. I think basketball and other sports would be worth studying more closely as well.

There is still so much we don't know about CTE. It may turn out that it shows up in athletes across a variety of sports, especially after years of participation and repeated impacts.

That's really my main point: there just hasn't been nearly as much research done on these other sports. What if, after studying athletes from soccer, basketball, and other sports over many years, we find similar issues? That could drastically change the conversation. Instead of looking at CTE as primarily a football issue, we may realize it is a broader issue involving long-term participation in multiple sports.

I'm not saying that football doesn't have risks. I just think we need more research across all sports before we fully understand the bigger picture, and may not just be a football thing.

I agree. I remember Ryan Freel, who was a great utility player for the Reds in the early 2000s, was discovered to have had CTE after he passed in 2012.
