Just so hard to take the reins away from backups, frosh and end of bench guys to counter what they have been taught and give 100% on every play. Has to come from the coach's decision. Have seen punting on 1st down with the postgame explanation that we needed to work on our defense or our punt coverage has been horrible. Am personally knowledgeable of one NKy coach that advised the white hat to drop a flag (for any made up reason) should his team breakaway for another score. Perhaps takes more of an effort by coaching staff to camouflage efforts to keep the score down than it does to just let the young stallions out of the corral.
