Unfortunately sacks have never been tracked for the Cov Cath record book. It's all superfluous, but a little bit of a Covington Catholic football record book history lesson: Some years ago I sat dow

Luke Kiely on a jet sweep. He picks up about 12 yards and Cov Cath pulls the players off the field as time is about to expire.

Ken Williams (CCH '63) and his wife Kate were honorary captains for Cov Cath's football team last night at the game. They're parents of 1990 Covington Catholic graduate Brian Williams who died at the World Trade Center in the 9/11 Attacks 25 years ago. Brian was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball, and track & field at Cov Cath, and started at tight end on Cov Cath's 1987 & 1988 state championship football teams. Brian won the NKY "That's My Boy" Award as a senior, and following his death the award was renamed the Brian Williams "That's My Boy" Award. He was also a four-year letterman in football at Columbia University, graduating with a degree in economics. He worked as a securities trader for Cantor Fitzgerald at the World Trade Center following his graduation.

Scratching my noodle a bit on this. Last night was Covington Catholics Homecoming dance. When was the last time a team had a homecoming following a game on the road?

I'm not sure I remember the last time I remember seeing a homecoming court at the Cov Cath football game. (There could have been one last year and I missed it, for all I know, but I have zero recollection of any homecoming courts in the last 10-15 years, honestly.)

In truth I've never understood the point of a "homecoming game." Pick an easy win at home and make it into a celebration? Is that really fun? And why do we have a prom....I went to literally 10 proms in my high school years and not once was there ever any promenading that took place. Seems to me it's really all just a bunch of names for dances.

It was all just a popularity contest. We all knew who the popular kids were/are....No need to announce it at halftime of a game you are winning 42-0. LOL
