East Jessamine opens up 2026 play at home this Friday against Bullitt Central. East is coming in off a very, very solid showing against South Oldham this past Friday and a win over Mercer (in a tightly controlled and scripted scrimmage) on the Friday before. East was just down 21-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter when both teams went to JV only and still had a shot at a tie on the final play with 4 seconds left. They are looking to get off to a strong start and avoiding the injury bug in 2026.

I know nothing about Bullitt Central beyond their most recent scrimmage was against Spencer County. I can't find anything out about how that went, what their expectations are, etc. Is there anyone who can contribute on that aspect?

Bullitt Central has a solid group back. They scrimmaged a tough Spencer County team and were down 21-28 at the end of three. I think it will be a good game but I think Bullitt Central pulls it out and starts 1-0 this season.

The hay is in the barn! Time for some football, folks! Looking forward to this game!

Halftime Bullitt Central leads 17-13. Messy, messy first half for East. Injured Bullitt Central player on East’s first possession lead to a lengthy delay until he was carted off. Prayers up for the young man.

East has let some hard hitting and borderline late hits get into them and have received several penalties that have stalled drives and resulted in one player ejected. Coaches have to settle those guys down mentally. East is moving the ball well. Defense needs to buck up because BC line is getting push on every play.

1-0 feels great! Emotions got the better of quite a few last night and has to be reigned in. I will say the refs lost control pretty early and I want to say this now, would NOT have been the reason they lost if they had, BUT the crew had a pretty rough night.

Overall East had some great, positive things to take from it. Need to build on those and teach the young guys to get their emotions in check when adversity hits. The biggest thing for me was the game winning minutes. Long drive on the ground with some passes sprinkled in controlled the clock for the 4th qtr and then when they went ahead with about 2:28 left in the game, the D finally buckled down and contained BC and forced a turnover on downs to let the O run the clock out. No panic. Just went to work. That’s what they’re capable of and need to build on that mindset. Exciting game!
