Your thoughts on the ADI article on GCHS

Featured Replies

I think it showed the resolve of the kids. Definitely painted them in a good light. From reading the posts about the games and the GC situation in other threads I take it the two who did not want to keep playing are not in synch with the vote. If that is the case, as has been mentioned in other GC threads, then they need to be benched or excused from the the team. Hicks is gone and not coming back and the kids that are going through the motions and disgruntled owe it to their teammates to wake up or get out of the way and not ruin it for the rest of them.

Kudos to Coach Sutton for taking this daunting task. And I hope the GC Community will put the drama behind them and rally around Coach Sutton and the kids. Thats what really bothers me about this whole situation- is that it seems like neither side is thinking of kids. I would implore to Jim Bob Hicks to step up and be the hero in this situation and call for his suppoters to rally around the team instead of making it more difficult. If he wants to stop being "damaged goods" (his words, not mine) I think that is where it starts.

Grant Traylor needs to be commended on writing this article, he has turn something very negative into a positive. It truly shows the character and resolve of these young men on the basketball team.

:thumb: :thumb: Excellent post. coach Sutton deserves all the support of GCHS and ALL of their fans. The kids at GCHS deserve much better than the so called adults bickering about everything. Makes one wonder who the "kids" really are.:sssh: :sssh:

This was a very good article and if Raceland (I am a Raceland fan first and foremost) cannot win the district then I hope the GCHS crew can. If for no other reason than Coach Sutton and the Players.

You play for a school and your teammates not a coach.

You can't reduce it to that. Kids play for all different reasons. They represent their school, sure. But they also represent their coach, their teammates, their classmates.

I can understand the confusion and the emotional standoff they must feel between being loyal to coach Hicks and remaining on the team and being loyal to their school and teammates.

I think the article brings that to light very well.
