Nicholas County 72 Pendleton County 62

Final from Falmouth

Too much.  That's the running theme for this one.  Too much size on the Bluejacket front line.  Too many trips to the FT line. Too big a deficit to overcome.  Pendleton Co took an early lead, but baskets by Caiden Smith erased it quickly. Bluejackets took a lead late in the first and never looked back.  Nicholas County swelled the gap to 21 at one point in the game.  Pendleton County would not go quietly, and behind a trio of 3's by senior Dawson Nichols, and 2 more by Cam Ohara, the Wildcats cut the lead to 6 with a chance to get it to a one possession game.  However Nicholas County would turn back that threat with several FT down the stretch (13-15 in the 4th), and Nicholas wins it by 10.  The victory almost ensures Nicholas County of the #1 seed in the district.

Nicholas (72)- Hatton 18; True 7;Simons 12; Smith 15; Martin 18; Blake 2

Pendleton (62)- Grayson 21; Nichols 9; Keeton 6; Ohara 23; Biddle 3

Nicholas...15...17...19...21.....72

Pendleton...10...11...10...31.....62

Last season these two teams split the series, each winning the away game. Can the Wildcats get them back on the 14th at their place again?

If the weather cooperates, the Wildcats need to bounce back quick to take care of Harrison Co. tonight. Nicholas faces a tough Montgomery Co tonight where there is a more equal matchup to their size.

Nicholas is BIG. Not an easy task for most teams in the 10th. Curious to see the rematch next Saturday.

If not tonight, maybe tomorrow.  None of the teams have a game.

Watch what Montgomery does to them.

If the stars were to line up correctly, PC might just pull the next one out.  Would need to jump out to a big early lead and then control the game.  Manage the clock, changing defense, and committing less fouls, they had 3 guys foul out last night.

I was excluding Campbell, MoCo and GRC when I said 'most.'

The 4th Quarter plan was working…just too late.

I thought MoCo would win, but…geez.
