They always say the first one is the hardest to get.  Franklin County's future looks bright with a good group of young players coming up.    

Winning the State Championship is the ultimate goal.......but the JOURNEY is often times the real story. There have been a lot of really good coaches never to make it to a state final, much less grab the brass ring. When you have that special team that comes up short in the finals it is really difficult. Once you get there no matter how your following seasons play out it never feels complete unless you finish in the finals.

I don't think the championship window has closed for any of the three. They could all be back in Lexington as soon as next year. The foundations are rock solid, they just need that finishing touch that the Boyles, Pikevilles, and Beechwoods of the world have mastered.

Maybe those teams are more RPI benefactors than they are legit contenders. Haddix will play Franklin County in the finals every year of his life if he could.
