Spencer County won their sixth straight first round game, advancing to at least the second round every year since 2019, this time a 58-6 win over Breckinridge County in the first meeting between the teams since at least 1998.  They'll travel to face North Oldham, who advance past the first round for the fourth straight year, blanking Gran County 49-0 for their largest postseason victory in school history and third playoff shutout for the program.  That was the first meeting ever for those programs.  North Oldham is looking to advance to their first region final since 2014, while Spencer County is looking to return for the first time since 2023.

North Oldham, champions of the 3rd district, are 9-2 on the year and closed the regular season as BGP's #9 team in 4A.  Spencer County, the 2 seed out of the 4th district, enters at 8-3.  These teams met just last year, a North Oldham 41-15 victory.  The all-time series record is 10-7 in favor of North Oldham, who have won three of the past four meetings.

North Oldham is favored, both as the home team and by BGP rankings.  Spencer County has previously shown they're capable of playing with the big dogs, taking Franklin County to the wire in a 34-33 loss.  Can Spencer County play spoiler and possibly earn themselves another shot at Franklin County, or will North Oldham return to the third round for the first time in 11 years?

I believe they're more than capable. Old school offenses - in this case, Spencer's take on the double wing with a wrinkle or two folded in - have caused many a fit for more talented teams in November.

I agree with DMC, but since they played last season, I believe the Spencer Co. offense will not catch North Oldham starring at the headlights.  Could be a sneaky good game, but I'll go with NO in a close one.

I'm going to pick the Fighting Marksburys in what I guess would be considered a mild upset.
