TurboStats GameCast for Football: Holy Cross Indians_vs_Dayton Greendevils

The Covington Holy Cross Indians win big tonight with a 54-6 victory over the Dayton Greendevils at Scott High School.  HC held Dayton to 67 yards rushing and 1 yard passing.  The Indians put up 28 points in the first quarter and another TD early in the second quarter to start the running clock.  A scary moment occurred at 6:24 left in the 2nd quarter when a Dayton defensive player was hurt on the field.  The life squad was called as the game was held up for over 30 minutes.  Our prayers and thoughts go out to that young man for a full recovery.  With the score 35-0 at that point, the coaching staffs and referees agreed to speed up the game even more to avoid more injuries.  The 3rd and 4th quarters were 8 minutes long (instead of 12).  HC played reserves from that point on until the end of the game.

For Holy Cross, QB Brian Ferguson was 6-8 passing for 84 yards and 2 TDs.  Ferguson also ran for another TD.  RB Charles Oglesby ran for 76 yards on 4 carries with a TD.  TE Max Hunt (4 catches for 49 yards and a TD) and WR Thomas Maddox (1 catch for 38 yards and a TD) led the receivers.

For Dayton, RB Malachi Kennedy ran 11 times for 62 yards and the only Greendevils TD.

Next Friday night, in the second round of the playoffs, Covington Holy Cross will host Newport (winners over Ludlow 42-2).  The game will be played at Scott High School.

Hopefully the player injured for Dayton is okay. Good luck to Holy Cross against Newport in your next game. Dayton, keep your heads up and just keep working to become better.
