Campbell Co has a hudl page you can view the game. Go to the 2hr 7 minute mark to see the situation in question. Again I just want to know how the scenario played out because there is zero coach in the football world who would let the opposing team re-kick an onside kick with the opponent only down one score.

That’s fine, read my statement farther up. Yes the officials got it right. No one ever took a knee, a defenseless player was hit while fielding the ball. No one needs to apologize. The reason the re-kick is, I assume NCC accepted the penalty. The ruling was right.

Watch the hudl, you can clearly see the kid take a knee and get hit while down. That’s what I assumed the penalty was. I don’t understand how a defenseless penalty was called. Looked like a very hard (but clean) hit.

If this is all assumptions that NCC chose to re-kick, why was Lickert so irate on the sideline? The first player for NCC to contact the ball got hit very hard, clean in my opinion, and the ball went to another NCC player who got control of the ball and went down. Once NCC did that it's their ball regardless of the penalty on Campbell Co. Unless Lickert misunderstood the explanation from the R, there should've been no reason to re-kick since one penalty was live ball on CC and one was a dead ball foul on CC.

Exactly. Refs got the “ re kick” wrong. Just own it and move on.
Now….how about those grinding drives??
curious how many possessions CC had in the second half?
T.O.P. had to be rather lopsided.

 When a 1A beats a 6A, just hits a lil bit different.

Wasn’t disagreeing with anyone. I agree that it would be crazy for a coach to accept that penalty. I was just making an assumption off of the rule. I did watch Hudl and the kid that got hit was defenseless (open the book up).

The time of possession had to be about 75-80% in favor of the Breds in the second half. The fourth down stop was huge as well as Will Stevie’s onside kick recovery that led to another long touchdown drive. Also huge shout out to Miles and Messmer on that long pass play to the one line yard line from about the Camels 45, when the Breds were facing 4th and 1. Just a roller coaster of emotions in this game.

I really think the Raceland game opened up their eyes that they could compete against good teams.

What a matter of just a couple weeks makes. They got some momentum going at the perfect time. Looks like they found their soul.
