6A Meade County (0-6) at 6A South Warren (6-0)

THURSDAY – OCTOBER 2^ND GAME

District Season is upon 6A District 2.  And it will be a brand new district for the Spartans.  While the Green Wave will continue to play the other 6A District 2 schools in Daviess County and Central Hardin.  The Green Wave have a new head coach this season in highly esteemed Blake Powers “who helped Army West Point to the most wins in school history this past season”!  Coach Powers replaced long time head coach Larry Mofield, who coached Meade County for 21 seasons taking over from Larry French in the 2004 Season. 

The Spartans continue to be led by highly revered head coach Brandon Smith, now in his 12^th Season off Nashville Road.  The Spartans rose up to the 6A Class this season and this district game officially kicks that off.

Meade County Green Wave Information (TP94 Rating: 30.52)

I think it’s fair to say the Green Wave have been underwhelming to start the 2025 season with 6 straight losses.  That surely doesn’t bode well going into this game.

The Green Wave are led by 2 QBs with SR Wyatt Raney taking over after the second game getting more snaps this year going 16 for 31 and 150 yards with 1 TD vs 1 INT (No OCath stats here or below).  Wow – and that’s through 5 stat games, but Raney only played QB in 3 of those games!  Raney also leads Meade with 64 rushes on the year for 243 yards and 1 TD.  The leading WR for the Green Wave is JR Duncan Rodgers who has 9 catches on the year for 105 yards and 0 TDs.

Defensively, the Green Wave is led by “you guessed it” Wyatt Raney” with 43 tackles on the year and 3 tackles for loss.  Wow!  Rumor has it Mr. Raney makes the popcorn too!!!!

South Warren Spartans Information (TP94 Rating: 81.36)

South comes into this game after a dominating defensive performance against a good Pulaski County team in a convincing 35-0 win on the road.  The Spartan D set up the Spartan O all night and created a convincing win for Sparty. 

The Spartans are led by JR QB Camden Page who had as many yards as Raney did above in the Hopkinsville game (150 yards) with 2 TDs.  SR RB Kayden York continues his fine play with 18 rushes for 85 yards and 1 TD.  JR Justin Capps led the WR group with 3 catches for 102 yards and 1 TD.

Defensively, South gave up over 200 yards passing to Hoptown which is a lot for them.  Will be something to watch the next time they are tested, maybe Week 3 or 4 of the playoffs.  SR LB Drayson Moore led South in tackles with 10. 

Game Preview

Good Job by Coach Smith to move this game to Thursday night to give his players another day off for Fall Break. 

For Meade County, I’m not sure what to tell ya.  One guy ain’t gonna get it done vs South.  You have only scored 28 points all year long.  If South spotted you 28, they’d still running clock you.  I’m sorry to be so blunt, but just the way it is.

For South, you are now into a section of your schedule you will running clock from here into the playoffs IMO.  The South coaches must find a way to keep focus up and progressing forward because the big 6A teams at the end aren’t going backwards.

South BIG!!!  Dress the Freshman……

Meade County also lost one of their best DB/WRs Grayson Heiner in the Collins game and will be still be out for this game. Also out is FB Cruz Redman due to an injury.

Meade County's defensive line has been pushed around all season and their porous offensive line has Rainey running for his life almost as soon as the ball is snapped.

I think it is safe to say that this is the worst Meade County team in the last 15 years at least. 

This game will be UGLY. Running clock first half.

My Prediction: South Warren 56 Meade County 6
