I am going to waive my arms and say that Lawrence County needs to start being heavy on the radar of 3A teams this year.

The Bulldogs return about 90% of their starters and production from a pretty solid team last year that started a bunch of a Sophomores. Their QB is a 3 year starter and has improved a great deal. His accuracy is very surprising. The Johnson kid is developing into a big play threat outside and the Bulldogs have a handful of good runners (including the QB) around a veteran OL.

Lawrence is going to be a handful for a lot of 3A teams because they can eat clock and extend drives with 3rd Down passing.

The ultimate question is going to be if they are able to stop the better offenses in the class. This is something they struggled with last year as Belfry and Bell both won the LOS and effectively wore them down. Their defense looked pretty good in their season opener and in some scrimmages against some quality teams.

With Belfry out of their District they should be the heavy favorite to win their District Title.

If Lawrence can knock off Ashland in an upset on September 4th then watch out. I could see LC going undefeated if they win that game and their schedule is one of those sneaky schedules that could manipulate the RPI algorithm. Just enough playing up in class against teams that will get a handful of wins themselves.

Just put a dogear on this post... I may be wrong.. but I am going to say keep this team on your radar. I do see a situation where this season and next season Lawrence County could be the new Hart County.

They are definitely on my radar as they are coming to Garrard County this Friday night. I know the staff at Garrard have spoken very highly of the Bulldogs.

I don’t worry about rankings if they go undefeated they will get in rankings.
