Outstanding game! Well played by both teams.

Wildcats opened on a 7-0 run and led the first 21:00. Colonels defense clamped down and Newport held scoreless over a 5:10 stretch, late Q3 to mid Q4.

Tremendous hustle on the court throughout by Newport and CCH. What a treat.

Newport:  15 9 5 14 • 43

Cov Cath: 8 14 9 16 • 47

Cash Harney named St. E Healthcare Player of the Game.

Colonel stats only available per the CAN ~

McGillis: 15 p, 2 r, 2 a, 1 s

Harney: 12 p, 2 r, 2 a, 1 s

Bradshaw: 6 p, 8 r, 1 s, 1 b

Ruthsatz: 5 p, 3 r, 1 s

Gaiser: 4 p, Stava 2 p, Carroll 2 p, Stewart 1 p.

I watched it on Hudl and it looked like a good game, but for whoever they had video taping it did not allow you to see if they were making a basket or not. It seemed to me like they were worrying about having the student section in everything that I was watching. I love a good student section, but I would also like to see if someone is making a basket or not. Two good teams playing a big game.

Too much talent on the court for Newport to keep putting out these performances. Those two bigs have to be much more involved in the game plan (close to the basket). Especially for a bad shooting team.

This!!  I was a there and it flows way way too much through Rondon…..He can only do so much….Turner and Starks should be coached up to be the forced you can tell they want to be and I think they both have in them based on what I saw tonight.

The venue was electric for sure tonight.  A ton of aggressive Defense on display and that was refreshing to see instead of it just being a shootout.

? Cov Cath PPV livestream worth it imo. Coast to coast camera work, good play by play, analysis, and production values. Archived at the link below.

Newport (14-9, R9 6-4), tomorrow at The Igloo in Bracken Co. vs. Proviso East (IL).

Cov Cath (18-6, R9 8-1), hosts Cincinnati Moeller (OH) Tuesday for a triple header - livestream available at the link above.

Newport shouldn’t be getting outrebounded by anybody in the 9th with their 2 bigs. Very underwhelming performance they have to assert that size differential.

First half scoring for Newport supports this, and Newport has a definite size advantage - Rondon 11, Anderson 6, Turner 3, Starks 2, Amontae Lowe 2. Only Wildcat stats I caught.

Maybe the best defensive effort I've seen by CCH to date. Neither team scorched the nets. Scrappy play by both. Seemed Cov Cath was able to get more minutes off the bench. Colonels won the rebounding tussle 32-31.

A good game from Covcath.org livestream... Colonels are scrappy and tough... Newport has the talent and came out swinging, but once CovCath settled in Wildcats couldn't get into any flow.

Newport is talented but didn't impose their will for the most part after first few minutes. Rondon looks to have matured a bit, but still similar to how he was at Cooper - doesn't impact the game enough without the ball. The potential with Turner is there, but he still has some development needed this summer. A kid with his size, length, athleticism....His skill needs to improve dramatically, and hopefully playing on a circuit team this summer and GETTING IN THE GYM will help him. Wasn't impressed with Starks, though from what I've heard he's much, much better than what he showed tonight. Anderson is solid - was not familiar with him before tonight.

CovCath has the fire power and shoutout to Bradshaw for his rebounding. Saved the game at some points. Without him, Newport may get 60+ FG's to CovCath's 38. The Colonels defense will carry them down the road. Obviously McGillis and Harney are going to score, but at some point you hope a 3rd guy can get to the double figures. Solid high school basketball game on a Friday night. Looked like a great environment.

I watched it on CovCaths live stream. I agree it was well done. Definitely worth it.

Preach.
